ATI 4890 2-pin fan header

Have a Gigabyte 4890 with the Zalman cooler on it.

Does anyone here know if this card will run without the fan plugged in to videoboard itself?

Going to install a quiet 120mm fan below the card (have room) and remove the stock, annoyingly loud fan if it'll run without it.

I've done this in the past, although not with a 4890 (closest I've done it with is a 4870). I don't see why it wouldn't work.

That is what I figure.... I just want to be sure...

I could see it being a thermal protection feature especially on cards that run as hot as the 4890.
