Apparently it will clock dynamically depending on the load.

it probably has to dynamically clock down so it doesn't overheat, so they flipped it into a "feature". 😉

And the 8800GTs run amazingly cool don't they?
You haven't even seen any of the cards in action and you're so quick to judge them....and not only in this thread I might add.

By the way, you haven't seen any of the cards in action either, and you're quick to judge them as well. In favor of them, just as Yacoub's comment was not. You are both exactly the same on opposite sides of the field. So who's better?

My question is (and you don't really have to answer this, as it's just a question that floats around in the void between my ears), what part of Yacoub's statement prompted you to immediately think of the temperature of an 8800GT?

I wonder if a feature like this could actually increase performance...

Nah, the 8800GT's should have kept the dual slot coolers. As I keep saying. Although they are managing the same temperatures that the G80's get with a dual slot cooler. Load temps around 75-80C, sounds about right. I believe they would be amazingly cool with dual slot coolers however.

This is true, but then they wouldn't have been as cheap. Having owned both cards, I can tell you that physically the GTX is quite a bit more card than the GT in almost every respect. It's not hard to see that the GTX costs much more to produce than the GT.
