athlonxp and sempron difference

I gave my paretns my old computer when i bought my new one in january. the motherboard in it is an asus a7v333 which says that it can support any (333fsb athlon xp) well, i looked at local places and a 3000+ athlon xp is quite rare and expensive but a socket A sempron 3000+ is a lil cheaper(also 333fsb). What is the difference between them?
Also, if a 3000+ isnt a good choice, please gimme an alternative. Since they have a mobo that can support a faster cpu(currently a xp1600+) and upgrading wont be too expensive i thought i would suggest it to them

Probably nothing more than cache sizes. To do an Sempron to Athlon XP conversion, take off 300 points from the Sempron and that's roughly the equivalent Athlon XP.

What do your parents do that requires a faster cpu?

I would personally recommend a mobile XP, though you should check Asus's site for cpu compatibility first. The Mobiles are Barton cores (512KB L2 cache) which require less voltage and run cooler than regular XPs (can *probably* even use their current hs/f). They are also multiplier unlocked so setting fsb to 333 (166) is no problem. I would go for the Mobile XP 2200+ @ 13x166=2.16GHz (compare to XP 3000+).

skt A semprons = athlon xp's. the skt A semprons are all based of the throughbred core, so you board should run it, but you may need a bios update so it will recognize it correctly.
