AthlonXP 2100+? Recommended Heatsink/Fan?

I just purchased the Asus A7N266-C nForce 415-D and 2100+. The temperatures with the stock/hsf combo are mid 40c/112f. I'm wondering what the normal operating temperature should be? Also i'm looking for ideas for aftermarket hsf combos to replace the stock setup. Any feedback is appreciated... So far i'm very impressed by the nforce.. very stable and speedy so far.

I don't know about the performance (I don't have much experience with the Athlon XP), but a lot of folks at the HardOCP forums recommend the ThermalRight AX-7.

Unless your hitting 58°+ you've nothing to worry about and I wouldnt be too concerned. And your not reaching worrisome levels until you hit 65°+.

Mid 40's are perfectly aceptable for a 2100+ at stock speeds.

I have an Athlon 1800XP being cooled by a lapped FOP 32-1. My heatsink/fan combo is prolly a little better than the stock one that came with your CPU (no offense) and I idle at 41C with my in-game (stressed temps) being 46C. I use Motherboard monitor 5.1.0.2 (the newest one) for my temp monitoring.

I'm assuming your reading of 40C is an idle temp. I'd say your stock HSF is doing a great job as-is! Athlons run hot, period. Your 2100 is two-steps above my 1800 and is currently idling at almost the same temp as mine. You are just fine. Now go play a game.

I have the same mobo/CPU and it all depends on the room temp. Right now, mines at 109 F (thats with an Alpha 8045 and Delta 45cfm fan like the one here.. And my room is pretty warm (two PC's, one 19inch monitor, Kenwood receiver, KLH powered sub, warm running Netgear router and HPNA bridge). When the weather is cool, its usually between 98-104 F.
