Athlon64 X2 4200+

Looks like the price drops hit newegg. Huzzah!

Edit: No, it was just that one SKU. The rest of the X2's are still hella expensive there.

yeah. the x2 3800 was still 289 but the 4200 was 199. i didn't know if the price drops actually hit everywhere yet or not.

I almost can't believe that I paid over $400 for mine 🙁 oh well I've gotten great use out of it 😀

Yeah, I noticed they dropped the X2 3800+ and 4200+ price.
Guess they are taking their time on the others.

A little higher than Mwave and monarchcomputers.com too. :
Maybe i'll see if they still have them instock over there.

waiting for quad-core, is it worth it??

can you wait until mid 2007?

Pretty sure I can. I got an P4 3.2. It will probaby last me till then, unless I burn my MB or VC again.

sorry to jump in on this, does anybody know the price range the quad-core gonna be when it comes out?

in a few days all K8 prices will plummet. I am waiting to see how Conroe pans out. Things just got even more interesting now that AMD has acquired ATI. After 5 years and 8+ Athlons, it may be time for me to go Intel.

Why?

mwave keeps getting them in stock and out of stock, so you'll be refreshing all day.

i'm surprised newegg's is $199 for the 4200+. That's $10 more than mwave.
hmmmm, decisions, decisions, i'll wait it out this week and see where all this goes.

danny~!

It might be time for me to get back on the 'fast computer' bandwagon.

Does anyone have a link to a cheatsheet with the various processor lines and performance? It's been a while since I paid attention; I don't know the differece between an X2, and AM2, and an R2D2 any more.

The time has come for me to upgrade. 4200+, 7900GT, 2GB DDR2 800, el cheapo 450W PSU, but which mobo?

Like others, waiting for it to go cheaper...and it will.

In a few months... if you buy now, you maximize the time you will have it at this price, which means less buyers remorse 🙂

Computer stuff always gets cheaper. I have an 1.1 athlon that I'll sell you for $15...
