I don't know much about the Opteron series, all I know is that it's Dual Core. How it performs compared to the Athlon64 X2 I really don't know. Both processors are around the same price.

Which would be better for gaming and overall?

Ok, I ususally don't OC my CPUs (I know I should).
Just to clarify things, why the X2 would be better if I don't OC?

Because it operates @ 2.0 GHz with 512 KB L2 cache instead of 1.8 Ghz with 1 MB L2 cache, & 200 MHz > extra cache.

And i believe the X2 3800+ is cheaper too; at least it's cheaper here in Canada too.

But if you like to OC, the Opty is likely to do slightly better, though the X2 3800+ Manchesters made this year do very well also.

Ok, so a Athlon64 X2 3800+ running at 2.0GHz stock is better than my Athlon64 3200+ running at 2.0GHz.

The X2s are alot better than single core with the same clocks?
(I really want to fully understand the Single Core vs Dual Core differences).
Thanks a lot
