Monitor: ??? - I have an old 19" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900u but it's got one or two of these weird horizontal grey lines on it that won't go away. It will have to do until I can afford the Dell 2405FPW (unless someone has a better suggestion).
Mouse: ??? - I have a Logitech MX500, I really like it but the rubbery grip stuff is flaking off in places, it's kinda nasty.
Mousepad: ??? - I have some random Kensington thing with a wrist pad. I am considering the eXactMat.

Photos, overclocking, benchmarks and other updates to come as they happen.

hydrobr, I bought an Antec case last year and the 120mm fan that came with it cools well and is quiet enough. I don't think you'll need to bother with replacements.

I like your choice of monitor. I just purchased a 2005fpw during the sale they had in the middle of July. The first one received had three stuck pixels - one green and the other two were red. It didn't take long for Dell to ship a replacement. The second one they sent me exhibits the backlight bleeding that you read about all over the 'net but, there's no stuck or dead pixels. This thing is beautiful. I can live with the backlighting since it's only evident in extreme dark displays. I don't ever notice it during normal use or video games.

Why would do you do that?
If you buy a eVGA 7800GT from eVGA.com you get a free Jetway SLI mobo!!

Aww... you've gotta be kidding me.. damn it! Why does no one tell me these things?! Oh well.. it's sold out now.. but out of morbid curiosity.. do you know how much the combo was going for? There's no price now that it's on back-order.

I think I will keep telling myself that, somehow... the Jetway one is better than the eVGA one (looks like they're pimping out their own board on evga.com) even if, for all intents and purposes, it's the same exact board. Sigh..

Ricemarine, yeah, I checked out their website but now that they're sold out they don't post the price any longer. So, I was just wondering how much the combos used to cost when they were still in stock? How much was the GT combo? What about the GTX?

If I didn't remember wrong, they were approx $450.
It wasn't exactly a "combo", it was that you pay the retail price of a 7800GT and get a SLI mobo totally free.

Monarch had a $469.00 eVGA 7800GT + Battlefield 2 + eVGA SLI mobo (rebranded, diff color Jetway GT4SLI mobo) triple combo.
That's what I got.

Now they've pulled it, but the 7800GTX version of the deal is still on monarch for $569
Didn't want to dampen your spirits...

Anyways... if you live in a rural area or are more paranoid/protective of your new system (like me) you can drop ~100 on a UPS
And if you're an audiophile... sound card + nice headset/speakers

I just got my new system too...

I agree with thug on changing your psu, but I would go pcp&c silencer, Seasonic, Fortron, or Enermax. IMO you cannot achieve a "relatively" quiet system with the p180's supplied fans even on low speed. I am a silence freak mind you. If your on a budget for fans look at the Coolermaster 22dba-1100rpm-40 cfm fans>$6-$7. If you got the $ than look at the Nexus> $15. Looks like a sweet rig 🙂

AAAAHHH! Okay.. so here's the problem:

The total would be cost for having gotten the motherboard and GPU separately: $536.76

Monarch actually has the GTX plus mobo w/o BF2 (I don't really care about the game for now) for $529.00 and I'd probably get the 2-day Fedex shipping for ~$20, since I'd have all the other parts and would be quite itching to put them together.

So! That's ~$550 for the GTX+mobo vs. ~$537 for the GT+mobo.

However! There's a %15 restocking fee at newegg, as well as shipping costs. This adds an extra $25.

$575 for the GTX+mobo vs. $537 for the GT+mobo and not having to deal with returns, plus having Monarch hate me (long story)...

I guess it's not really that hard a decision, eh? ~40 bucks extra for a GTX over a GT seems like a pretty sweet deal, but what do you guys think?

OMFG! The RAM I ordered just went down $3 in price and the MIR went up another $5. Sure it's only $8, but still! Between the GPU/mobo and this.. Hmm.. maybe I can just cancel the Monarch order (memory+GPU) and re-order the RAM and GPU/mobo combo from them.

I was actually strongly considering getting the Fortron-Source Power Blue Storm AX500-A PSU but I liked that there was a rear exhaust (and the extra wattage) on the Aerocool Turbine Power 550 watt Power Supply because the airflow seems like it is somewhat limited for the PSU in the P180 case. Do you guys think I should get the Fortron instead? After restocking and shipping fees it'd end up being maybe.. $5-10 more than the Aerocool PSU.

I was also considering the Antec TP2-550EPS12V but not only could I not find a review of it, all the places that had it at a decent price were sold out. Are there any PSU suggestions, maybe something more specific than just manufactuers? I'm willing to spend over $100 on it.. but I'd like to stay under $200, really.. under $150. And it needs to be pretty powerful because I want to be able to stick another GTX in there one day, as well as an Athlon FX, 2 more gigs of ram and maybe a Raptor drive.

Regarding power supplies, the prevailing wisdom is that name brand and price matter more than specifications. And the preferred PSU supplieers are:

1)PCP&C, Seasonic, Fortron.
2)Antec, Enermax, OCZ (the OCZ is iffy).

The seasonic S12 500W is $99 right now at many e-tailers. In the p180 though, the s12's cables lengths (particularly the 24/20pin and 4 pin mobo) might be a tight fit meaning you will not be able to hide them w/out extensions.

Actually, I go by my experience with the brands I have used for personal use and for other builds. 🙂

I decided to go with the Fortron AX500 PSU and the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 speakers. I'm still waiting on Monarch to ship my motherboard, memory and GPU, it looks like it might take a little while. The eVGA motherboard/GPU combo I ordered isn't on the site anymore. But it's not in the out of stock section, either.. so I don't know what's up.
