so far the cheapest ive found are:

zipzoomfly $309<$299 (retail)

zipzoomfly $289<$320 (bare cpu)

monarchcomputer $334<$329 (retail)

monarchcomputer $297<$251<$259 (bare cpu)

newegg $297<$325<$349 (bare cpu)

pagecomputers $290 (retail)

futurepowerpc $299<$289 (retail)

nowmicro $305<$299 (retail) coupon code: amdcust

I know there has got to be some other sites im missing that might have cheaper prices!!

Thanks for any help guys. 🙂

The 3200+ is a much better bargain. It can be easily overclocked to the speed of the 3500+ with the stock cooler and often without the need for additional voltage. Winchester 3500+ pricing is insanely high right now. If you're set on a 3500+ and don't want to OC all that much, get the Newcastle.

Well, if you get lucky, you can overclock this Winchester to 2.6 GHz or farther, and I've even heard of people using this processor to surpass the speed of a stock-clocked FX-55, making you the proud owner of the fastest x86 processor on the planet 😉. The price has recently inflated $60 but it's on its way down again, at least on newegg.com it dropped $6 since a few days ago.

Until I see a bunch of 3500+ chips starting to hit 2.7-2.8ghz regularly the 3000+ should be the best bang for the buck. You get the largest overclock and potentially pay as much as a 150 less for same end speed....

How much are the 3200+ going for now???

I paid 139.00 oem for mine about 1 month ago...I know prices have risen but that was a screamin deal...

ah yes, thanks for catching that.. i had meant to put the one for $349 down, its edited now 🙂

seems like page or zzf are the best right now, but seem still pricey.

the nice things about the .13 is that it works with phasechange cooling while the .09's seem to have some sort of subzero "bug" which prevents them from working when temps go below -20C's

i thought i read something about how that was fixed, ... but honestly... what % of users are gonna be using phase change cooling? 1/100? i dont think thats significant enough to mention as a flaw in the new .9nm chips.

Dang it all...I was just gonna wait a couple more days to get the 3500+ 90nm combo at monarch (free HL2, farcry, napster) and now they have raised it back to $288 and the 3200+ to like $190 🙁

When are the damnable price cuts happening!

That is why I say don't wait and trust your initial instincts when you were looking at buying. There is too much interest in AMD chips right now and companies are going out of stock repeatedly...Supply and Demand and we kow what happens next!! Prices go through the roof as retailers know you will pay for it.

I am sure AMD has not raised its price to the retailers...this is probably pure retailer profit. Now if only Dell would pay attention to this....

Once the new revision of the 64's come out with sse3 support the previous versions should decrease in price. I think the sse3 proccys are coming out this month.

I never buy OEM when retail is available... to much frisky business is possible....

This is not a 90nm chip, right? Sounds hard to believe you can get a Winchester for that cheap, there some catch?

Call and ask they won't bite.... Mwave is cheapest. When I got my 3000 they sold it retail boxed $50 less than everyones OEM 3000!!!... I don't know how they do it...but they do.

Try this one. look half way down
130nm

I am debating whether to get a 3200 winchester, 3500 newcastle, and 3500 winchester. I will not be overclocking and if I ever did it would be very little. Which one should I get. 3500 is only 200mhz faster, will I even notice 200mhz or should I just get the 3200 or the 3500 newcastle?

I've got my 3500+ Winchester running now at 2.4ghz with stock voltages, and my CPU temp is 34-35.

EDIT: Idle, of course.

Ya, i am only interested in the .9nm winchesters.
Those seem to be the hard ones to find, newcastles are everywhere
Thanks

I am waiting for Winchesters to drop before I start planning my rig. I know 3000 and 3200 are a good deal but if I can get a 3500, I can be set for a while and when it starts getting a bit slow, OC it and run it till it dies.

This is also something I have been debating.
