Athlon64 3000+ OC, anybody else tried this ? What are you getting

The title says it all. I have Kingston Hyperx PC3500CAS2 and I am currently at 2200 (from 2000). What is everyone else getting ? On 3200's ? (whould be close to the same)

I'd enjoy seeing how fast that version of the A64@2.2ghz crunches a SETI WU, and with the pseudo 9700pro how it does with UT2k3 bench, heck even 3DMock2k1se would be nice. Thanks in advance for any forthcoming numbers :gift: and bump for anyone else with one of these to post their overclocks.

OK, did the rigs page (there were 3 out of date) A seti unit is running, when it finished and a complete one runs thru, I will reply, then kill seti and run 3dmark03 (last was at stock, got 5066) Is there a free downloadable UT2k3 bench ? I don't have that game.

3dmark03=5181

Seti unit=1 hour 40 minutes

UT2k3 Flyby=249.79... bot=108.424.... Is that good ?

Edit, whoa... Just did some research, and the only the FX51 and the 3200+ beat those scores, and with a 5950 ultra

It runs at 38c under full load too ! It did puke once in 3dmark2001, so I will have to keep watch. I may have to clock it back down a shade.

The UT2K3 and 3D2k1 scores are very nice About the WMV Video Compression Test failed in PCmark'04, do you have all the media player 9 codecs and encoders installed? The memory score from PCMark'02 looks good too. Can't say with the SETI since it's unknown how crunchy the WU was, but you can ask in the DC forum for how to run the benchmark WU as I can't remember how to save my life right now Thanks again for taking the time to post some benchies Overall it looks like a nice CPU :beer:

Thanks DAPUNISHER !!!! Now if I could only fix this:
** Update glitch ** I have been unable so far to figure out why C&C Generals pauses so bad after 2 minutes that it is unplayable. I have updated everything including bios, and tried one other high tech game (Warcraft III) and nothing has any problems except this one stupid game that even in single player, pauses so bad that it is totally unplayable, and it only starts a minute or two into the game !!! I have checked for viruses (latest Mcafee) and this was after a re-format anyway. Very strange.... If anybody has any input, please let me know. ONLY THIS ONE STUPID GAME IS A PROBLEM !!!!!!!!!!

okay i am little confused (I am trying to convince myself to buy the new 3000+), I have a p4 clocked at 3.38ghz, fsb 240 5:4, pc3500 running 2, 2,2,6, and on pcmark 2002 I get

cpu score 8323

memory 9485

HDD score--wont run as I running a raptor, and pcmark wont work for sata drives

Shouldn't the 3000+ run better than this

I cant run 3dmark as I only have ati 8500--yes I know it sucks

So can someone help convince me some more?????

Red Alert 2, so I hear, has problems with HT p4s, so it might be possible the game has some issue with the cpu. That's just a shot in the dark though.

With a system that fast I wouldn't look to change the CPU/board but rather get a faster graphics card if you game at all.

no gaming though I think I need a better card just for image quality. I use my machine for music, and media reproduction--do you "DAPUNISHER" think the athlon 3000+ a woudl be faster is seems that the memory and clock speed do make a difference for my purpose any opinions??

Uhhhh... my Raptor scored 1387... using an A7N8X Deluxe with onboard SATA.

You shouldnt want to switch to 3000+ or 3200+ Athlon 64, because in pcmark 04 and 02 my 3000ghz p4 is faster even and yours is 3.38ghz!!! ....should laugh at mine. I've had an athlon 1600+ before this upgrade and now have 2600 overclocked. So i favour both intel and AMD equally. To me it seems for now p4 is faster in general applications and general multithreaded usage (like having multiple windows explorers open, winamp, kazaa and seti running, and msn messenger all while playing a videogame vs the athlon in 32 bit environment). However, there is no denying the athlon is faster for games. So if gaming is what you seek buy the athlon otherwise wait till faster athlon's come out.
Look at my pcmark 04, its faster in almost all tests (the ones that are slower are due to my crappy 8500 card)

2600@3055 p4 C with 512 ram PcMark04 Score

I would never consider an upgrade unless it was cheap and gained me at least 30-50% increase in speed overall. Save your money for a faster videocard in Spring perhaps.

hey RussianSensation thanks 4 the update, for your 2.6c to get it to clock faster I would highly recommend that you buy some mushkin 3500 lv2 I am able to run timings of 2, 2, 2, 6
with turbo, an pat enabled at 5:4 240 fsb. I think that my cpu is maxed.

when I get home I will run mine for comparison

My PCMark2004 score

Your score isn't THAT impressive, RussianSensation, considering your processor is running at 3 Ghz and you have HT enabled.

Either way... PCMark2004 is pretty useless since if you look through the scores there's listings with a 1.4 Ghz AthlonXP that scored in the 6000's.
