hmm.... it's interesting that someone came out a kit to grab some money, good deal if you're lazy enough not going to your nearby auto shop.

I got the defrogger kit ($7 + tax) from Pepboy and had overclocked my Duron for a year.
To clean it off, I use the thinner for my model making or I heard that any nail paint remover will also do (have never tried)

I used to use pencil, but I found that I had to redo it once several months, might be the graphite doesn't hold very well on the CPU surface.

That's odd, I've been running my Duron 600 at 960 since June of 01 with just one application from my standard #2 pencil sharpened to a decent point. And it's even mounted vertically (on it's side ya' know) and has a big ol honkin Alpha on it with a mid range fan, and an 80mm case fan blowing straight down onto it from less than three inches away... so I'd think it would be fairly susceptable to graphite loss...

June 01, Has it really been so long? Only another couple weeks before I upgrade though... TBred for me I think, just hope it unlocks easy enough.

I ordered this kit online on May 16, 2002. Came in yesterday. I live in norhtern Virginia, near Washington, DC.

USP Ground was $4.95. Total invoice, $16.94.

These are very small vials. and small magnifier. The three vials are about 3/4 " tall. The vial for the "Gap Filler" was empty; it may have leaked out in transit due to poor packaging. That's not a problem because it smells like clear finger nail polish, which I already have (girlfriend). I don't intend to return this package simply because the vial was empty. But, damn this vendor for its trick on me.

The vial for the "Cleaner Agent" was full. I don't know what it is unless it's a pinkisk finger nail polish remover (acetone).

The vial for the Conductive Grease had a small glob of grey matter in the bottom corner. I suspect that this is conductive silver. It is enough for the one Athlon XP 1600+ that I have, and for whole lot more XPs.

You get a stick pin, unremarkable except that it has a little white head. You will recognize it from the stick pins you pull out of new dress shirts.

The magnifier is called a "Folding Linen Tester Magnifier." Out of the box and still folded, the magnifier gadget is about the size of a classic Zippo lighter. I'm sure it is adequate for the job as the L1 bridges and dots are very small. I know from experience that you can't hold a magnifying glass and try to connect the dots on the XP's L1 bridges.

Unfolded, the little magnifier should do OK whenever I get around to doing the unlocking.

There is also a strand of stickon tape, which I doubt I'll use.
