Fundamental Rule of the Internet #27

- eBayers, for the most part, are mentally challenged when it comes to assigning value to certain items.

They dont wanna upgrade the rest of their system, therefore they will pay through the roof for a cpu to replace their broken one, also supplies are drying up. Thats just one scenario where somone might buy this.

Yes lol, what kyparrish said too. Check this out ---> PRICEY!

note: i picked up one of these for $40

Gawd! I just checked it out and the xp mobile is selling for a lot less than the 3200+ even though the xp mobile is the overclocking king! Don't those ebayers know anything?

Don't you know some people are complete idiots who don't bother to do a wee bit of research?

Ebay people buy empty boxes and cpu lids for insane prices... at least they'll get a real product in this case.

Yeah, I've noticed that they have these "mystery auctions" where they have a sealed box with... something... inside, and you bid on it. Also, some people have these mystery envelope auctions where they offer an envelope up for bid that has an undisclosed sum of cash inside.

Lots of people made money buying Opty's retail and reselling them on Ebay.
If you know how to use ebay, can pricewatch be all that much tougher?

They probably noticed that Zipzoomfly was selling them for around $200 and figured they could do the same.

This isn't that surprising. My used XP 3200 sold for $180 there a month ago (and I got it for $200 two years ago). I would expect brand new ones to go higher.

What ridiculous prices they're going for, if people need a replacement for a damaged CPU, then it's cheaper to get a S754 board with Sempron 64 (or even A64) that'll offer better gaming performance than any AthlonXP will... they also overclock very well too and run cooler.

Here I am sitting on a Athlon XP-M 2500+ & XP-M 2600+ (2500 wsa @ 2.4, 2600 never used). I got a 14.4k Modem too, lol wonder if that's worth anything ;) lol.

I loved my XP-M and hope to put it in a HTPC one day, just waiting for the right time (HDCP GFX Card).

You might as well just sell it on ebay and put the money towards the htpc. That way, you'd probably save a little money and it may be easier to get a hdcp video card in pcie than agp.

Hmmmm, tell me more of this .... Ebay .... and how I might capitalize on naive individuals willing to part with excessive amounts of cash for my ever growing collection of PC parts !!

I have a KG7/AMD 2000 Tbred combo to gouge someone for plus an Epox 8RDA/2500 Barton that should bring me a pretty penny. Only bad news for me is I am not a registered seller (wife took away my C.C.) so ... sux 2 B me !

And how would they replace their own board? Take it to Best Buy and have Best Buy take them to the cleaners? Let's not forget the OS reinstall, since those users likely won't know how to prep their OS for a motherboard change. Lastly, users HATE to reinstall programs. So in teh grand scheme of things, $185 to save you the trouble of doing all the above isn't that bad ;)

Don't complaing about people selling them for high prices, join them ;)

I think someone who buys used hardware off ebay is generally not going to be a total noob with these things.
