Athlon XP problem/question

I just picked up a Athlon XP 2500+ and everthing seems to be working fine but... The motherboard, and Epox 8K3a(I think that is the correct designation), doesnt recognize it as an AMD cpu nor does it automatically run it at the 1.8Ghz clock speed but rather 1.1. I went into the bios and up the clock speed to get 1.8. Should I have to do this or is something not working right? I'm also afraid of heat, the cpu is running at about 114deg F. Is that too hot or ok? Thanks. peace

Yea go ahead and set it to 1.8ghz, by default your motherboard sets the fsb to 100 which is what it's at now, set it to 166.

114F, that's not too bad, see what your full load temps are at 1.8
