Athlon XP L2 cache not working??

I have an Athlon XP1600+ CPU on a Gigabyte GA-7ZMMH motherboard. I was
wondering whether there was any problem with the L2 cache; when I run
WCPUID Ver 3.0f, it shows the L2 cache Instruction and Data TLBs as "OFF"
for the 2M/4M byte pages. Is there any problem with the CPU or is this
normal? Also what WCPUID shows up for your AXP CPU's cache?

I assume your first port of call was the BIOS?

MCS, I haven't yet begun to diagnose the problem, because I'm not to sure whether there's a problem in the first place. I'm just alarmed that WCPUID shows it to be "off". What does WCPUID show for your AthlonXP CPU? What should it normally be?

Mine says Off too. Perhaps it's normal?

Thanks MCS. That's exactly the info I was looking for. The reason I was so scared was yesterday, my finger got caught in the HSF fan while the system was running. That jolted the HSF and I was pretty scared about the CPU. Hence the anxiety. Good to hear that the CPU is good (as well as my finger )

I think it would be very difficult to precisely damage a specific part of the chip just by jolting it like that. Athlon cores have a habit of chipping or cracking which usually renders the ENTIRE chip off

LOL , No it was a 5000rpm everflow on a TT volcano-5 HSF. Lucky me.

Yeah I know it's very difficult a part of a CPU, but I was pretty paranoid and didn't want to take any chances... the chip's perfetly okay now i guess....
