I've heard that the XP's PR Rating compares it to a standard DDR Athlon, so far as to say that the 1.53ghz XP 1800+ would perform similarly to a Athlon DDR 1800mhz, is that about right?

So doesn't that mean that the XP 1800+ would completely wipe the floor with the upcoming Pentium 4 2.2ghz since the 1.4ghz Athlon DDR outdid the P4 2.0ghz.

Thanx,

Corm

p.s: Not trying to start an AMD vs Intel post just trying to get my head fully round the XP before upgrading.

Purely speculation, but probably ;)

I havent seen anything that proves an Athlon T-bird outperforming a P4 2.0 GHz though. I DO know that the 1800+ outperformes the 2.0 GHz P4 though.

I didn't take that result from the AXP's review here on AT. The 1.4 seemed to compete pretty well with the AXP 1600+ (1.4 mhz part?), but got blown away when compared to AXP's on KT266A chipsets. Gonna read that article again to make sure.

Anandtech's Benchmark tests showed the 1.4ghz DDR part outperforming the P4 2.0ghz in over half the tests.
