1. KT266[A] mobos you're talking about are standard ATX form factor, which fits into any case.
2. It's the power supply that determines the case's compatibility with AMD CPUs.
3. 300 Watts may be too small for a fully-featured Athlon XP system.
4. Directron.com, NewEgg.com, mWave.com
5. You can buy the case separately, then buy any AMD-certified 350+ Watt PSU you like.

For the price of the Lite-on FS-020 you could get a really nice Lian-Li PC-60 USB case cheaper or the same price. Just have to make drives match if you want them too. Could get the black version if you wanted black drives and a computer instead.

MSI KT266a Pro2 mobo
AthlonXP 1700 OEM
256mb DDR SDRAM PC2100
Acer v8200 GeForce 3 ti500
Alpha PAL8045T Heatsink
Maxtor 7200RPM 60gb

AOpen 52x CD-Rom

i just need a case...300watt will not be enough for ^^?

-vbboy: the 1030b comes with a power supply for a pentium, not an athlon

From all that I've read, it will work with an Athlon, it just has a special connector for the Pentium 4. It still has the regular connection for the Athlon XPs.

nabeels786,

You should really get more RAM... 512 MB is good. Also, you can get the Gainward highly-overclockable Ti3 "550" from NewEgg.f ro only $313 (when they are in stock =)

imtim83,

That price INCLUDES the nice power supply. The case you're talking about doesn't.
Also, this is probably the only case that can take THREE 120 mm fans.

But I have nothing against aluminum :)

heh, im salvaging the computer im on now, i have 512 in it now, im gonna take it outta this and add it to that comp..how does the rest of the comp look? i just returned my POS Dell, and going for a custom

i was reading stuff of off toms hardware, i like the asus card...comes with 3d goggles

i most likely won't be overclocking, maybe just a wee bit, but the asus was all good with overclocking according to toms hardware

where can i get a converter to convert from P4 output to Athlon?

I would highly recommend the Cooler Master ATC 201 which is really a very nice case.

Budget - Enlight EN7237 or InWin IW-S506P.300F
Midrage - Antec SX1030B
High End - Expensive All Aluminum Case... Cooler Master, LIAN-Li, and Enermax are all good brands.

These are just my choices if i had to pick a case. There are many other cases out there that may suit your needs better than these.

Newegg.com has an excellent variety of choices with decent shipping.

Huh? Is this a joke? You want to put a P4 CPU into the Athlon mobo? :)

Any Fong Kai case. I have the 300's and 600's models and they are both awesome. Air-tight, quiet, well constructed. I highly recommend the Black 320.

<< argh! they all say "AMD Approved and P4 Ready"

does that mean i need a converter?
>>

You don't need any kind of a converter. A P4 ready PSU has an extra 4 prong square shaped plug on it to provide the mobo with extra power. With an AMD system that plug is not used and you can just zip tie it somewhere out of the way. Hope that clears things up a little for you.

Like I said before, no converters of any type are necessary. "Athlon ready" has nothing to do with the case. It's a certification from AMD stating that the PSU has been tested by them and meets/exceedes AMD's power requirements. You can read more about that here.

I was looking around at Newegg and I found a pretty nice looking case for the price:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=7&manufactory=1524&DEPA=1

Check out the third one on the list, the CSX-147K. I've never heard of Maxtop, but the case looks VERY cool.. 2 blowholes with fans and an AMD approved 300W supply. KT266A mobos aren't too power hungry, so I believe you should be fine.. grab another cooling fan for the front and you should be set.

Let me know if you choose this one, it really looks nice to me..
