Athlon XP and that darn thermister

just wondering if anyone had there Thermister touching the bottom of the CPU. with the transistors there i decided not to have it touch it for fear of shortcircut. what did any of you do to deal with this problem.. i really want to know what my temp is and i know i cant rely on that damn peice of kaka!!

any suggestions or comments would be ideal.

it *shouldn't* be a problem, as i've never heard of anyone fry'ing their chip this way....

I have mine taped to the CPU substrate, with the tip just touching the edge of the core. I *have* had one fry (the thermistor, not CPU) when I managed to put the HS on and the thing got sandwiched between the core and HS. 🙁

The thermister will not short anything, there is no problem.

what about putting some ASII on it an then bending it up to touch the bottom? would the ASII be a bad idea on the XP??

I wouldn't do that. I think that AS is electrically conductive, meaning that it could cause a short.
