Athlon XP 2600+ 333FSB on VIA266A CHIPSET?

HI!
Can anyone tell me if my motherboard (DFI 73 Pro VIA 266A Chipset) will take a Athlon XP 2600+ (it says 333FSB on the CPU box) ? The motherboard site
say It will take upto 2600+ after a Bios update. please help!

I wouldn't bet on it. I'd say get a 2400 and overclock it to a 266 FSB 2600.

The mbrd site is referring to a 266FSB version of the XP2600 ,so your 333FSB version is no good ,unless you fancy selecting a higher multiplier so that it runs at the correct MHz.
Thats assuming your mbrd can even do that.

AFAIK the XP2600 is the only CPU available in both 266 & 333 FSB ,most seem to be the 333 version

Eh yeah ,but your PCI bus will be at a rather high 41.5MHz!:Q

I too had a KT266a mbrd, Asus A7V266-E ,I ran that at 152MHz with no probs:)

no, it had the proper divider I am sure, but I am getting old so I could be thinking of my epox 8k3a+ I tend to change motherboards like socks :D

lol:) ,if it definatley had the divider then it was your Epox mbrd with a KT333 chipset(?)

Anyway ,I know for sure the KT266a never had a 1/5 divider:(
