Find the clock speed and check it against a Barton core chip. Could be one of the Thorton chips

I saw it too... thought it was a misprint... but I've seen it a few places. An XP2300 isn't listed on AMD's website... so I'm wondering if eMachines doesn't even know what they're selling.

I'm guessing that AMD liquidated some 2400+ or better chips that did not meet spec.

I'm almost tempted to buy one and take it apart and see what the stepping on the CPU says, lol. Too bad I don't have money coming out of my arse.

There is a page for the 2300 on AMD's page, I posted a link a week or two ago.
EDIT: AMD XP 2300 page

Weird... how the hell did you find that page? lol

*EDIT* I wonder if it's an old Palomino core that they were able to squeeze a few more Mhz out of?

Google is your friend Jeff :). Also on the page that eMachines has for that system, there's a link there.

We need to take up a collection and buy one of these things to take it apart. Or just ask a forum Mod to send eMachines\AMD an email.

Found a Tom's Hardware Russia page that said 1866, on a 266 bus which would be a 14 multiplier (14x133). Don't know how far to trust that source though.

EDIT: It was an OCed Palomino that they decided to call a 2300, friggin idiots...

How do you know it's a Palomino though? Could be a T-Bred.

As the page on AMD's page states it's one created for eMachines...lord knows why they did this but they did....maybe they will make them a 2900+ next.

Actually I think they had 2900+ as a Athlon 64 possibility...
