Athlon XP 2200+ is out! Ooh, its getting toasty in here!

I don't understand how they can be so far behind in getting .13 out the door. Now the question is, when T-bred is released, are they going to be able to release at a new frequency? Or will they be at the same frequency as existing Palomino's...

Lets see if AMD chooses to compare this CPU with the 400MT/s FSB 2.2 GHz P4 or the 533MT/s FSB 2.26 GHz P4. It'll be a little tougher for AMD to justify those QS ratings as they push into 533 P4 territory.

Yeah, what a great choice for those who like having 10 fans in their PC 😉

I'm doing with a 2.2 GHz P4... much cooler, and no VIA drivers 😉

The ratings do not compare the Athlon XP to the Pentium 4.

mmm could do the same with an AMD 760MPx or an nforce MB.

The T-breds aren't late. The month has yet to be up. And frankly, with Hammer coming in just a few months, it really doesn't make sense for AMD to try to one-up itself as often. If they do they'll make the same marketing mistakes as Intel does everytime they release a "new" CPU which competes with several of their own chips. 1.6 Celerons anyone? Right now people (Who aren't made of money), are having to decide whether to get one of the faster Tualatins, the new Celerons, or a straight P4. Maybe I'm an idiot, (and I prove it to myself that I am every day), but that seems like it would be more than a little confusing for the average PC consumer. AMD is already having problems with people trying to decide between the faster Durons, and the Athlon XPs, but at least the XPs perform quite a bit faster all-around, so there's not as much of a hard decision there. Bottom line, turn the current, and future XPs into what the Durons were, and make Hammers the priority. You can't do that if you try to release too many, too fast, too soon, and without a clear winner between them.

Funny, I can't find mention of the XP 2200+ being released anywhere (not even pricewatch.com).

Yes they do, AMD won't say it straight up, but they pretty much do everything else. IF you think AMD doesn't want you the consumer to compare those ratings with a P4, I've got a bridge to sell you.

The data sheets at AMD's website don't have an entry for the Athlon XP 2200+ (it was last updated in March and only has the 2100+). Does anyone know the nominal voltage, operating frequency and typical power?

"Search pricewatch and you'll find it.

Btw.. its still at 0.18"

Pricewatch has three listings for the XP 2200+.
But where did you see it is based on 0.18?

You can speculate all you want. Their has been no official statement from AMD saying it compares to P4. Anything you say otherwise is only your OPINION. I myself think it compares to P4 but that is just my opinion. I'm not AMD and AMD hasn't said otherwise.
