I also placed an order for one of these which is still in a "backorder" status. Considering an XP2000+ processor is pretty much a commodity item readily available, I find it very interesting that Outpost can't seem to find any to fill the orders...unless they intend to wait it out for awhile, knowing that over time, customers will cancel their orders or may agree to pay more.
What I am very curious about, is there anyone who agreed to pay a higher price and have had their orders processed?
Personally, I don't believe in sticking it to a vendor for an honest mistake. However, the delivered price was not that far off from the going rate. It would be an entirely different matter if the price had been listed at $6.99, 10.99 or something similar where a digit had been truncated. When I saw the $75 delivered, I thought perhaps AMD was dumping Palaminos on the market.
Although I am not accusing Outpost of unethical business practices, this situation reminds me of going to a car dealership early on Saturday morning to buy the advertised hot deal only to be told they can't sell the car for that price but they have other similar cars available if you pony up a just a little more. That's called "bait and switch". What is the difference between that and receiving a call from Outpost saying that you have the "option" to cancel the order or pay an additional $30?
Bottom line, I think Outpost should quit playing games. Fill the orders and get on with it.
