Hello everyone !
I just bought a Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra Platinum Edition and instaled my Athlon XP 2000+ on it.
Well, "So what ?" you may be asking now.
It happens that i got into the bios and simply switched from 133Mhz FSB to 166Mhz and the multiplier to 10x , and i got +12C in temperature, totalizing a 60C max temperature. My HSF is not a super star, i'm very impressed it handled the temperarure so well.
While reading some reviews and articles on Anandtech, i found that they couldnt get higher then 154Mhz using the same mobo and the same processor. They also wrote in the review that they processor was unlocked so they could play with FSB/Multipliers, i'm kind new to the Athlon world, been using Pentiun from a long time, pardon me if i'm asking something too dumb.
So i ask u gurus of AMD
, is it possible that my processor is locked but the mobo did the unlocking job ? Cuz, if use Sandra of WCPUID it reports a 333Mhz FSB and 1660Mhz CPU Clock... but i dont know if i'm been fooled by some BIOS info the programs are geting or if its true...
Also, i'm geting a Athlon XP 2400+ next week, will i be able to make it run at 333Mhz FSB or i just got so damn lucky this time with this Athlon XP 2000+ ?
Thanks and sorry for my bad english... =[
