Most people use either WCPUID or CPU-Z to see what their cpus are running at.

That Athlon XP 1600+ is a Palomino. Unfortunately, Palominos run pretty hot and are lousy overclockers. What you want is the Thoroughbred B 1700+. I just recently upgraded from a Palomino 1600+ to a TBred 1700+. Most people are able to overclock to at least 2GHz with not much voltage increase.

I have a XP1600+ on a Abit NF7-S board and Corsair XMS RAM and it won't budge one bit for overclocking. Think it's time for a Barton2500+.

A good 1600 can do up to about 1.85GHz. A more realistic expectation would be about 1.75GHz.

People today have been "spoiled" by the ease of OC'ing the T-Bred chips! Getting a good OC on a Palamino was much harder, but a sense of accomplishment came with a stable OC....

I see so many posts now by people who have no clue about what they are doing who are "stamping their foot" because their system won't run over 2.4GHZ at 200FSB+ just because that's what they want it to run at right out of the box!

I managed to get it up to 155 x 10.5 (multiplier locked) which is stabily 1.5...Ghz Messed up my generic ram by putting it to 2t, woops, so will have to start again (By Stabily i mean it ran Prime 95 Torture test for 8 hours 30 mins straight with no errors.
