Athlon Voltage Question

Is it OK to raise the Athlon's Core Voltage from 1.75 to 1.8-1.85? (Except from the extra heat that it will produce). I ask because I can't get past 1377(9.5*145) from my default at 1200 AXIA Athlon. Is the changing of the voltage the only way to go beyond that (if of course the cpu is capable). And if yes which is the most suited voltage-1.80 or 1.85?

Thanks

Raising the voltage is fine as long as your cooling system can handle the additional heat. What temps are you running now?

Cheers!

After the case cooling update I did (I put one 80mm exhaust in the back and one 60mm intake in the front) Ihave 50C idle and 53C full load (3d studio, seti@home, prime 95 running!). My mobo's temp is 34 C.

Those temperatures aren't bad at all. K7's are fine up to 2.00 volts. Higher than that requires far more aggressive cooling.

Cheers!

Up to 1.85 volts should be fine. The higher the voltage the higher you should be able to oc it but just make sure you have really good cooling.

Have you tried a different setting such as 10*140? Sometimes you just reach the fsb limit and worst case scenerio is that your cpu just can't hack it any higher.

Thanks for your replies guys. I am asking because each time my cpu cannot handle the clock speed I can't reboot unless I reset the bios..which is kinda difficult 🙁. Read here my other post about this
