Hey all,
I've got an extra Abit KA7-100 Slot A MB and I'm looking into getting a processor for it. My question is: Is there a noticable difference in speed and performance between a 900mhz "Classic" and 900mhz Slot A T-Bird?

Thanks,
NB

Yes, especially at 900MHz. The TBird should be around 5-10% faster. This is because the cache on the TBird is running at the full 900MHz, instead of at a 1/2 or 1/3 divider.

I know people have done it, but is it a gamble getting a Slot A T-Bird to run on an Abit Ka7-100 MB? Anyone have an idea of the success rate with running it on the Ka7-100?

I'd hate to buy a T-bird and have it not run on the board, then deal with returning it.

I tried a slotA 900 Tbird in a KA7-100 and it was a dud. The same processor in a late revision K7M runs at 1100 with no problems.
