Athlon or P4

Hi everyone; i am planning ot buil a new system within this month. I want your opion as to whether i should go witha p4 or an athlon? Thanks

i would wait for the palominto to come out form athlon and then see how that runs and make your decision then.

"Waiting" is the big key. If you are OK with waiting for a bit, you might wait a bit to see how Palomino and Northwood (Intel's 0.13 micron shrink) perform. Northwood would mean that the P4 will be cheaper and run cooler - however, requires 478 pin mobos.

At this time, I would really recommend waiting for a month or two & see how things go 🙂.

are you going to build? then Athlon.
are you going to buy pre-built? then Dell P4 system.

Not this again..do a search..this one come around at least twice a day..a big war ensues..
But, why not? I prefer the Athlon right now for the better bang for the buck..but the P4 is much better on price since the big price drop..Both make great systems..almost a dead heat in benchmarks..
But really, who cares as long as they keep making the cpu's this cheap? Soon we will be getting new cpu's and throwing the old ones away like used batteries..
