Athlon MP cpu.. factory unlocked?

I have heard that the MP is unlocked or easier to unlock cause of the L1 bridges not being cut or the "trenches" are not present. True or false??
 
From what I've read, they're not really "unlocked". It's just that they can be unlocked with some type of conductive material. They aren't "trenched".

I have an 1800+ XP/MP that is not locked, or needed any bridge work. I have full multiplier control in the BIOS with the KG7-R that I am using.
