Athlon 64 "Rev E"...

Hello,

I have seen mention a "Rev E" chip that has some newer stuff, but has problems with the nForce 4 boards.

Is this any 90nm Socket 939, or is there a newer 90nm version I should be looking out for?

I need to build a system this week, what should I do?

Thanks,

David

It's the overclockers that are drooling over the prospects of this chip. Its a newer 90nm flavor of Socket 939 with an improved memory controller that can handle 4 sticks of memory at DDR400 at 1T. As well it is rumored to have strained silicon which is supposed to allow for higher speeds. Unless you NEED 2GB of RAM, you can't go wrong with building now. Let everyone else beta-test the new stuff.

I believe it also supports SSE3. They should be excellent CPUs with amazing performance and OCing potential, though they will probably be on the expensive side.
