Athlon 64 and Upgrading

Hey guys, I'm a new poster here, although I've been reading this forum for months. I'd like to get an opinion. Basically, I am for sure wanting to upgrade my computer. I currently have a Athlon 64 3200+ on a MSI Nforce 3 250GB Motherboard.

Should I go to a Athlon 64 3400+ and attempt to overclock it (Although with my Mushkin 2-2-2 PC3200 memory I dont know if that will be possible) or should I goahead and get the Athlon 64 3700+?

Would going to a 3.4GHZ Pentium 4 with dual channel memory offer a worthwhile upgrade?

Or should I sell my Mushkin memory and get some PC3700 or 4000 memory and just overclock my 3200+? I'm looking for opinions of other people like me, thanks a bunch!
 
That is one hell of a rig. I don't know what Bestbuy employee told you that you need to upgrade, but he is smoking crack. You may wanna trade your x800pro for a 6800GT if you want. Otherwise, you are just fine.
 
The P4 upgrade idea is totally kooky. If you must upgrade, do a vidcard upgrade as recommended(depending on what you have) or the Athlon 64 upgrade.

Your system should be kickin ass already. I'd sell my nan for it. Dont bother upgrading yet. wait a while for new technologies such as PCI express, Nvidia SLI and DDR2 then upgrade. any upgrade now would be terible price for performance gain
If you can absolutely, positively think of nothing better to spend the money on a hard drive, whic from your sig, you appear to be missing. Try overclocking as it is and see how far you can get. at the end of the day, its your money, and you might be rich, so go with whatever makes sense
 
C'mon it makes me feels kind of sad, you'd better spend it in anything else...your PC is a desire of many people

Obviously you have money to spend...
But even in this case WTF man? This is a killer rig.
I don't know what your monitor is but if you don't have a decent one I would definately buy a 22'' CRT or LCD. Just to spend if I had to. :evil:
