Basically I am choosing between this two ABS Laptops from newegg

Athlon 64 3400

or

Pentium M 1.8

they are basically the same specs except for the processor. cost around $1800

Lap top will be used primarily for gaming and DVD viewing, I really wanted the mobile x800 video card but unable to find a vendor that uses this video card.

My wife actually wants to buy this

Sony Viao

but I think it s over priced.

quick oppinions please she is hovering over my back

I'd go with the A64 unless battery life is an issue.

Here is a CNET review of the A64 I just googled up Text Looks like its strengths are tailored to your needs :)

The Centrino is 1.3lbs lighter. :D

How much gaming can you do with a Radeon 9600 anyway? (Mobility 9700 is actually only a 9600XT with a slower core clock)

Definitely the A64 :)

I have a A64 Lappy with Radeon 9600 and it does very well with all of my games at 1280x800 resolution. No complaints at all :)

There is no reason to get a PM unless you want the best of battery life.

I personally would never buy a laptop for games, so the Centrino would be my pick, but since you don't really need the slimmer lighter better-battery-life design, the A64 would be your best bet.

AnMig add a poll to this thread please.

I would get the A64, but if you want the battery life go with Intel

By the looks of things you do not want to spend over $2,000 on a laptop. If you really want the x800 mobile be prepaired to shell out more than 3k for a laptop.

Is the 6800 really comparable to the x800?

I am off to look for benchmarks. If they are then my options just got bigger.

There is no mobile version. The DTR version is the desktop one without a heatspreader.

I was going to get the Alienware with the 6800 but there estimated delivery is 2-3 weeks. I cant wait that long (going on a trip in 2weeks)

I will be getting the ABS http://www.abspc.com/app/config.asp?mono=1885#top thanks to googer for the suggestion.

Thanks you everyone for your input. I really wanted the x800 and was about to buy the sager 9860 but I really dont like the bland balack look.

Lollerskates and lollercaust. Dell couldnt make a machine thatd stand up to heavy usage of anything.

Joe Blow > Dell

For gaming/video editing/PSing that is.
