I'd say you can. I have my 3000+ Newcastle running at 2.5GHz right now on water, so I'd say that you can hit 2.4GHz on some decent air cooling. Some people can even get 2.6GHz out of these chips, but you'd have to be really lucky.

Just remember most but not all Newcastle's will hit 2.4. Mine will but at a 1.7 vcore. Its really luck if you get a good OCer or not.

Think I really have to hit the AMD band waggon. Now that I already DivX'ed almost everything that interests me and saved much time over any offering from AMD. I think now might be worth the moeny to get an additional 7-14 FPS over the Intel solutions. These threads make me want to switch more and more :|
Now that SLI is just right around the corner, I think I have no choice...

can i recommend this ram instead?

http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=20-141-117&depa=1

pqi turbo 2-2-2-5 and it uses the brainpower pcb which overclocks higher than ram that uses the jedec reference pcb...

in order to hit 2.4 with the 3000+, you will have to run 240 HTT with the top locked 10x mult.

this ram should hit 240 easily with 2-3-3-7 or 2.5-3-3-7 timing

you could probably even drop the mult to 9 and use an HT of 267 (~ 2.4 ghz) and still run 1:1
