Athlon 2600+ XP Question (Unlocked, etc.)

Anyone knows the difference between the 2600's BROWN or GREEN PCB (or whatever the heck it's called). Local FRY's store has em both (OEM) and was curious if there's a diff in OC potential, etc... Are the 2600's unlocked??? L1 bridges connect will work?

Mine is GREEN w/:

AXDA2600 DKV3D
AIUHB 0305RPHW

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

OK... Running stable at 2218 with the FSB at 177 or so (who knows) ... It's LOCKED, no doubt about it... Cause the ePox MOBO does not like anything above 2200 or so..... So connect the L1's bridges????

No complains cause solid and stable and for $109 is sweet....

Any IDEAS!!!!

Those chips are all multiplier unlocked. As I and many other people have said before, color doesn't matter, they use whatever is cheaper at the time.

That processor itself is unlocked... but whether you can adjust it or not, and what you can adjust it to is dependant on your motherboard.

Yeah it's an EP-8RDA nForce MoBo... But anything above 12.5 mult it wants to revert to stock setting... Lemme see again...

Tks for all the info...

Meaning BIOS upgrade in order for you.

That sounds like the top of the crop to me though not exactly fresh. 😀

bios updates do nothing for being able to access higher mults on 8rda or 8rda+, unless u have a cpu that has a mult over 12.5 as default you're limited to those below it.... unless you mod the chip

Mod it by connecting the L1's???

Anything above 12.5 mult I get "CPU values have been change or Overclock failed" on the post and a 1250 setting is applied.... Nothing above 12.5 works...

Lucky you.

Is 12.5 the highest you can run, or the highest the Bios go's.
I run my Shuttle AN35N ULTRA at 11@211 with a 2600+. The highest
it would go with a higher multiplyer was 13@180. anything over 180 FSB
i would get the overclock message you get and get kicked down to 1250.
Needless to say, 11@211 is better then 13@180 🙂
Bring the multiplyer down and up the FSB. You should hit 200.

12.5 is the highest I can go... The mobo goes to 16 or so w/ the latest BIOS... But anything above 12.5 defailts to 1250 🙁

Even w/ a super low FSB (105 or so)...

Tks for the help.
