Athlon 2000+

I have an old KG7 Raid in my house that I can use. I know the thing holds Thoroughbreds up to 2000+. The question is do y'all think it can hold a Mobile Athlon XP 2000+. Isn't it the same processor with only an unlocked multiplier and lower core voltage?

It should work fine, as the mobile Barton chips run at the same 133 FSB speeds as the T-bred chips. I don't have any experience with that particular board, but you may not be able to go far if you plan on overclocking.

As long as you're running at stock speeds, it will probably work (be sure to update the BIOS to the latest version).

Thank you. It's an old board so I'm not looking for anything extreme. I was going to put a 2000+ on it anyway so I might as well make it a mobile.

I thought The Mobile Bartons run the FSB at 166 x 2 = 333, not 133. And the Barton 3200+ runs at 200 * 2 = 400 MHz FSB.

I have a Sis chipset board with my Athon XP 2000+ and that board would not run the Mobil Barton at any FSB speed over 133, which, without multiplier changes, makes it a AXP 1700+.

No, the default speed of the mobile Bartons come from a 133 FSB. The 2500+, 2800+, and 3000+ desktop Bartons run at 166 FSB, and you are correct about the 3200+ Barton. The mobile 2000+ is not a Barton (ie, only 256k of L2 cache).

2000+ mobile @ stock speed--> 133 FSB x 12.5 = 1670, which makes it identical to the desktop AXP 2000+ in speed.
