What sports figures would you say owe more of their success to their team rather than themselves? I'll start:

Emmit Smith
very durable back, but would have been mediocre w/o that line.

I can agree w/ that, but I guess all the years w/ MJ he was never THE star...but one of the best all-around as a "2nd fiddle"

Take a look at his salary, and tell me if that justify his "2nd fiddle" role.

u people are clueless about s. pippen. look at his numbers during the two years that jordan was sucking it up in the minors. he carried that team deep into the playoffs both those years. and yeah he does suck now but he doesnt exactly have any motivation to play either. 6 rings, tons of gauranteed $$$ - not exactly a lot left for him to accomplish.

He's still playing? I figured he would have stopped when MJ called it quits.

he signed with the bulls over the offseason. he's been on and off the IL all year.

Carmello Anthony

Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing player in his own right, but without that awesome team around him, he might not have won a national championship, and may not be as big as he is now.
