A belief regarding the existence or non-existence of a deity is very much like a religion.

By that standard a belief regarding the existence or non-existence of potato salad is very much like a religion.

True. There are religions about all kinds of crazy things.

Just because you do not believe in the Big Potato Salad in the Sky does not make it any less of a religion, nor does it discount your I Do Not Believe in the Big Potato Salad in the Sky religion.

The US being the most Religious of Western nations also has the highest Crime Rates in many types of Crime amongst those Nations. Correlation doesn't mean Causation, but one would think that REligiosity would have some affect if religious claims were true.

mexico, but whatever. they never include them or other industrialized countries south of our border. also, atheists have substituted God with Government. I shouldn't say all, but it's obvious that's thr route many have taken. though I guess not a lot of people read about Jung?

there is definitely organized Atheism and it definitely is a religion. fools think otherwise. I believe in nothing no diety, I do not consider myself an atheist because of the association it has with way to many morons

No it isn't, otherwise it wouldn't be possible at all to NOT have a religion

If you have a group of people who have a belief regarding the existence or non-existence of deities, why would that not be considered a kind of religion?

No, Atheists have not replaced God with Government.

Atheism is merely a position on Deities. That's it.

Disbelief in ghosts is not a belief in the supernatural. Disbelief in a magical man in the sky is not a religion.

The Definition you quoted states it quite clearly. Dogma is akin to a Law or Command. Atheists have no such thing.

If you do not believe in a lack of a deity, you cannot be an atheist. That is the functional equivalent of a Dogma (if not an actual Dogma).

I do not have a "belief" in the non-existence of god. Others assert their belief in the existence of god and I lack that belief. That lack of belief is not a religion or a belief itself.

If you can't understand that, I'm sorry. Either you are unable to understand or unwilling to understand.

The dis-belief of other religion's beliefs is part of a religious belief system.

As long as people believe in absurdities they will continue to commit atrocities.

Some people are just followers, whether it be god, country, ethnicity or ideology. As long as this is inherent in the human psyche, atrocities will continue to be commited by the followers of corrupt power-hungry humans. The belief structure of religion is just more prone to abuse than most organizations, because the penalty of disobedience is eternal, or atleast they believe so. There is nothing inherent in the belief of an afterlife or diety that makes one prone to commit atrocities. It becomes a tool for abuse by leaders, but its relationship to the atrocities is still only that of a tool.
