The irony hurts too much. Atheism is becoming a religion. Whether or not you believe in the faith of others. You have your own faith that there is no God.

OH, STFU. This tired argument has been debunked time and again, and we're all sick of hearing it. Go read and think a little before you trot out the same old tripe.

You're only saying that because you've been brainwashed into the sad little cult of Atheism

If I didn't know you better, I'd have to invoke Poe's Law. 🙂

Hey, that's a new one for me, I like it 😛

I have faith there's no unicorns too, though I can't prove it. Am I an Aunicornist? Is every group comprised of people who don't express belief in things for which there is no evidence a religion? That'd be a freakishly long list.

I also have faith there is no man standing behind me that I can never see because he just moves whenever I turn around. Damn I'm so religious. In fact I'm pretty damn sure of this.

If you formed a group of like-minded aunicornists and started renting out advertising space on buses to demonstrate your belief that unicorns don't exist, then I would say that is bordering on religious behavior. I don't believe in neon green space elephants. To be honest this is the first time I've really bothered to even contemplate them. But if I were so vehement about the notion that they don't exist that I formed a group and paid good money to advertise this belief, I'm perfectly comfortable with it achieving the status of religion.

Don't see how believers will find them offensive if anything it's just demonstrative of a schoolboy mentality in these Atheists - a 'nerds revenge' type of thing.

Like this Atheist message - I'd also say a religious slogan on a bus is a waste of money as well because it would be ignored. Better to spend that money on something constructive, like charity or a homeless shelter etc.

But whatever, it's their money.

They should band together with those wanting fish to be called sea kittens and form a coalition of wasteful PR stunts.

I've seen it more than in this thread. It seems they are first to speak up and announce their non-affiliation.

Because being Christian is the status quo and being agnostic or athiest is not.

It's similar to the reason minorities speak up and say "I am of x race" while giving their opinions about racial issues and whites don't.

There is also a mechanism that suggests that those of minority groups are expected to speak for their entire group.

Right but it's really just a foil. It occurs all the time without scrutiny.

It's more for atheists than not. Atheism isn't really accepted in many parts of society and increasing awareness, is how many social movements have achieved their goals.

Religion prays on the uneducated/poor/low IQ/sick/alcoholics/drug addicts.

It gives them false hope, and then sticks a basket in front of their face for the weekly donation. I cant wait until civilized man moves past the fairy tales.

Hope is hope, and some people desperately need it. I'm not going to deny a crippled man a crutch. I just don't want him telling me I need one too.

nothing beats a ATOT religious thread. More hypocrites and ignorance (on both sides) than people that know wth they are talking about

Could not have said it better myself.

Ridiculous. If you're going to doubt the existence of a God you sure don't need a bus ad to help you along. It's natural as breathing. The believing must be forced and indoctrinated.

Another thing is where is the contract phone number like those "Islam Buses" or "Catholic Buses" have on them? There is no contact details to promote discussion or community of Atheists because they don't really care about that, but instead say 'Hey, I'm going to attempt to ram my philosophy down your throat' or something similar with no discussion allowed.

We already spend a lot of time and money on helping people, it's called science. This ad was just to piss you off, and oh my, did it ever work!

this is more a problem with there not being a proper term for a person who is agnostic, but thinks from evidence that the chances of there being a creator being are as slim as there being a tooth fairy/santa clause/planet sized teapot orbiting jupiter.

But for a rare few its a religion.
