I think the site lacks a certain measure of argumentative seasoning: much of the wording is inflammatory and get's in the way of the intended message.

I'd say that the rhetoric should be toned down so the facts and rational, logical message can be better appreciated by a wider audience, and not just the choir.

He did come across as a fairly bitter young man.

My best friend knows him. He really isn't bitter. He just feels that the xians have too much of a hold on the United States. It seems as if it is taboo for us to express our opinions. If you want to see him in a rage, read his Instant message conversations.

Speaking from gradually accummulated, personal experience: we Atheists are served far better when Theists must find fault with our message instead of being able to sidetrack the debate by dwelling on our faults as messengers.

<... He just feels that the xians have too much of a hold on the United States...>

As evidenced, in part, by the glaring lack of Atheists having been elected President, Senator, Congressperson, Supreme Court Judge, Governer, etc.

They fear us; why?

I find it funny how most people think that America was founded by Christians and Christian beliefs. If anything, the constitution avoids religion as much as possible. Our founding fathers, or a lot of them, did not like christianity and saw it as an abomination...

"Christianity...(has become) the most perverted system that ever shone on man. ...Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and importers led by Paul, the first great corrupter of the teaching of Jesus."

bitter? I don't think so...how long can a person be bitter about something until they decide to do something about it. The content of the site definetly took a while to create and bitterness, imho, could not have been the driving emotion.

besides, if watchtower members feel fine about knocking at my door at 8 am on saturday mornings until I answered (true story, honest to god :)), nogodhere is certainly entitled to a website-inflamatory rhetoric or no.

Dedpuhl,

At the very least, you should learn to correctly spell the designation for your beliefs.

Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick. I am SO sorry I accidentally mixed up the "e" and "i." It is called lack of sleep. I bow down to you, elite member....

Dedpuhl;

See, pick on the messenger before dealing with the message. It's formula.

Come on, guys. If I started a thread and misspelled the word "Christians", don't you think I would be mocked in the same way? It has nothing to do with the content of "the message".
Any messenger who wishes to be taken seriously should use propper speeling. :p

If atheists are so "free-thinking" or whatever, then why do they need some guy with a web page telling them how to defend what they believe?

I have to say in Russ' defense, he did correct my grammar in a picture thread. And I think he enjoyed it too... :p

As for Atheists having to defend what they believe, don't worry about it. No matter what you believe in this world, there will be somebody there to tell you why you are wrong. I just ignore them. ;)

Hi, LTNS. :)

<...If I started a thread and misspelled the word "Christians", don't you think I would be mocked in the same way?..>

So, what you are saying is that Russ, out of a sense of philosophic equal handedness, would post "...At the very least, you should learn to correctly spell the designation for your beliefs." in your thread, too?

That's what I thought. :p

Dedpuhl...

Why would you endorse a page that argues by calling everything "Horse sh!t?"

That's really pretty sad, you know that? If you want to lend some credibility to your movement, why not point out pages that give cleary & concise statements & supporting elements? The page you linked to couldn't even be quoted verbatim here on AT.

Perhaps you're confusing atheists for anarchists. ;)

Why do Christians need web sites to tell them how to defend what they believe?

The funniest thing about the website is that is hosted by the evil incarnate itself: AOL.
