Atheist files suit to remove "In God we trust" from money....

Michael Newdow commented that he also plans to remove God from Churches. "We are supposed to have separation of church and state, and clearly any mention of God while in a public building such as a Church goes against the very foundation this nation was built upon."

as pointed out on the daily show. we put it in to fight the godless soviets. now we are fighting fundmentalists lol🙂

i wonder if the court will apply the 'how long did it take someone to complain' test from the kentucky - texas cases this past summer?

Whether you agree or disagree about "In God We Trust" on money or having "God" mentioned in the pledge, Michael Newdow is an absolute loon who only does his side of the debate a disservice.

It's all the guy does now.

I remember during one of the hearings, one of the people on the committee (or whatever it was) made a pretty funny remark about his "oppression" or whatever he calls it.

The person pretty much told Dr. Newdow "I find it amusing that you feel oppressed by this country, yet were able to become a doctor, then decide in the middle if your life to go back to school and become a lawyer."

I'm atheist... and I couldn't give a damn about that expression on currency. It probably costs too much to change it, I say leave it.

This guy probably just wants publicity. 😛

I'm somewhat interested how this plays out... i mean he does have a valid point. I guess the motto on the coins are there for historical value at this point though. IIRC it was added on there by the continental congress way back when (unline the under god thing).

Not that I'd fight his battle. but I half expected the phrase to be removed when all the new coins came out. But yet there it is, still on all the coins. Now that they have new coins, it would be silly to redo more new coins.

Everytime I look at it though, I think of how silly it is to have the word God on our currency. Oh well.

America is gradually becoming a theocracy, and you expected "In God We Trust" to be removed?

 Please cite examples of how "America is gradually becoming a theocracy" or kindly STFU.

i support this man wholly.. he is right for what he is doing.

Agreed. I can't believe someone didn't bitch-slap the fundies for this when they started it...

You also are a moron!

And your posts somehow show you to be a dazzling paragon of intelligence?

Doesn't he know we're a big melting pot, and the purpose of this country is to protect people's rights to practice religion without fear of persecution?

So insteado removing the motto, he should fight to have it changed to:

"In Gods We Trust"

😉

Probably not on purpose but he managed to draw your attention away from the issue and onto him. 😛

How about:
"In Gods Some Of Us Trust"

As a religious person, I still think Newdow is right on both accounts. Unfortunately, his delivery and reputation makes it hard to take him seriously, and I always root against him, not because I disagree with him, but because I think he is a tool. Petty, I know.
