If you look at the bible and the supporting third-party literature you will discover that it's at least as accurate as any historic text of the day, and in fact I'm not aware of any new testament refute that has not itself been refuted by looking at what was written in the appropriate context (that doesn't mean suspending disbelief, but having a reasonable understanding of language, in particular, of that day).
