Was just at a local Greek festival on Friday. I tried loukoumades and they were good, but they were outdone by an apricot-filled phyllo pastry with a honey glaze. Don't know what the Greek name was but it was killer good.

The perfect dessert is likely the one that I am eating at moment. It probably has chocolate on or in it. Variety is the spice of life. Don't try to limit me.

For Greek desserts, it is hard to say no to Baklava.

It's hard to beat baklava. One of my favorite desserts. But, it's also hard to be good old American apple pie.

I just made one for "bring a dish to pass" day at work earlier this week. It looked much better.

Picked up an apple pie last night from Publix last night, they were on sale. Haven't even tried any yet, the wife is a baking freak now and then but their bakery is pretty good.

Black Raspberry Cobbler is another favorite of mine.

I enjoy apple pie, especially homemade. Don't like the typical store bought apple pie with those cubes of freeze dried apples. However it is the crust makes the pie. Never made pie myself, as I find making a crust intimidating.

Lucky co-workers for sure. I use to like pot luck day. But there was always someone who brought in potatoes that came from a box.

Eh... The shortening was a brand new container, but had a "best by Mar 2016" on the bottom. It seemed to throw the flavor of the crust off by a little bit. The apples were sliced and seasoned, then frozen when they were in season... last October. :p It looked awesome, and still tasted at least as good as average. The apples were perfect (not a frost free freezer). But the crust... too meh.

Tiramisu always great also, depends on what you are doing, and where you are at :)

It's one of those very, very rarely type of things as far as those go though.

Black Forest Gateau is a thing of wonder!

Medutis honey cake is pretty bloody good as well!

Loukamades aren't even the best Greek dessert much less best period. Try galaktoburkeo or rizogalo sometime.

curious about what kind of shortening you use.

I like using real lard with a smiggen of real butter.

oh man a good galaktoboureko is amazing and Cypriot loukamades are up there as well but for galaktoboureko I don't like the version where it's like a rolled pastry but more like this

But that is just my opinion.
No, that's an objective fact. Cake is pretty much the bottom tier of desserts, and German chocolate is somewhere in the middle of that tier. Above discount store birthday cake, but below various spice cakes.
