In the system events in XP i keep getting a warning for "ATAPI" then under properties it says "driver failed to allocate memory" what heck does this mean and how can I correct it, if it even can be.

It could be a few things. I'd try updating ASPI to the latest version, here from Adaptec. If you have Intel Application Accelerator installed you may want to uninstall it to see if that helps also. Both of these can cause problems with ATAPI devices.

Yeah thats what i thought also that it was the ASPI i thought i had it installed but I did not so i Installed it and I still get these messages. Also I do not have the Intel App. Acc. Iam running an SIS 645 chipset Iam beginning to believ this is the root of my problems. Cause i also notice evry once in a while the Primary IDE channel goe to PIO mode.

Go to SiS's download page and get the latest chipset drivers; maybe that'll help?
