ata133 drive run at 100

I bought a MAXTOR 40GB ata 133 drive yesterday, but I think my board can only handle up to ata100. Will the drive just perform slower or will the drive not work at all?
 
The drive will work fine and at full speed,yes I`ve a Maxtor D740X in an ATA-100 board 🙂.
