Hey All,
I have an old OEM Maxtor Ultra100 controller that runs my 120GB Seagate just fine.
It is a build 27. I saw on the Maxtor website where they released a Build 43 to compensate for the 48bit LBA drives.(> 137GB)

I flashed the BIOS just fine, but after the flash, it would not run the new 250GB drive OR the older 120GB drive. It detected them fine and then just stopped right there...I flashed it back to Build 27 and it runs the smaller drive just fine again.

2 questions:

1) Has anyone gotten a Build 43 Ultra100 Promise Controller (non TX2) to run with a large drive??

2)Can someone suggest a controller to run both the new 250GB as well as my older 120GB?? (Adaptec??Promise??)

thx

I have a Promise UltraATA/100controller, if you still need something let me know and we can take it from there.

I recommend the SiliconImage based PATA controllers from Syba or LSI. They are both the most flexible and often the least expensive - hard to beat that combo.
