I have heard that on CD burners and other CD devices ata 66/100 cables should not be used.

is this correct?

Why?

Reason, getting ready to start buying more compentes for a new system, and konw i will need to be buying cables.

IMHO, thats horse crap. there are differences, but using a ATA66/100 cable with a 33 or less device is not going to adversly affect anything. they're just wires! :)

I bought an "A-Open" 52x CD-Rom and it came with a 40 pin-80 wire cable(ata 100). I had it plugged in to the ata 33 for awhile and it worked fine and now it is plugged into the promise ata100 controller and works fine. Hope this helped you.;)
