As I said when musing earlier this year about the release. And such, there is about month way big brother will let them slip the release till much past mid november regardless of how big a launch day patch is required.

Bleh I found myself logging on less and less, and haven't played for a week. I guess I'll cancel until late September so I can log in for my brewfest achievements.

yet another whelp makes me roll my eyes... the original CE shipped with cool and unique pets, but every one since then has just been reskins of pets that already exist a dozen times over in the game.

sorry but what are you trying to say here? me thinks you left out some words

me thinks you are trying to say that its rumored activision will force a Nov launch regardless if the game is ready or not. which means the ISO would be sent to the CD stampers in Oct giving them a month to patch it into actually working. TBH i don't see that happening. Beta still need too much work

Wow that did somehow get butchered when posted. And yep to your synopsis, and I would be absolutely shocked for it not to release by november. I'm sure they have the data about players dropping out from the stale feeling of the game and the schmucks in charge will want to get the monthly brinks deliveries back on track before the next batch of mmos come out.

GameStop told me they won't be taking pre-orders for the Collector's Edition until tomorrow. I pre-ordered one off Amazon anyway, but they also only let you get one. I have 3 accounts and it's always hard to decide whether I want to be stingy and not hook up my characters :(.

^ this

There is a ton of work that still needs to be done with Beta. Hell, they haven't even released the last couple zones yet for testing, and the level cap is still 83. Talents still feel wonky as well.

Now, Bliz typically releases beta patches that are a few iterations behind what they are currently working on, but right now everything is pointing at a Dec. launch, if not 2011.

Unless they somehow ramped up the beta testing in the next month or so..

I do love collecting pets in-game, but I'm with you on this. Instead of a pet, I'd like to see them mix it up a bit and make it a unique looking flying mount. Having the ability to be a ground mount until you get the flying skill. Much akin to the Celestial Steed. It'd be cool if it could morph into a flying creature going from the ground to the sky.

Put my preorder down on the CE today at my local Gamestop. I'm primed and ready for the midnight release, whenever that may be.

Also, my guild got Sindragosa last night on the first try. We finally had a raid night where everybody showed (well, everybody but one, but a guy we know and trust was able to fill in) and we beat her on the first try. Absolutely zero problems on any of the phases.

We did put in 10 attempts on LK last night. We've got the first phase and the transition down pat, just trying to get better at the second phase right now. Hopefully we'll be able to make it past the second phase at least once tonight, so we'll see.

I pre-ordered one as well and I left my pre-order up on Amazon. I've heard too many stories of Gamestop not honoring pre-orders for the Blizzard collector's editions, so I'd rather be safe. I'll probably just buy a normal one and play my Warrior + Priest (priest is on Account #3 that just uses normal WoWs) until my second CE arrives from Amazon.

The phase usually becomes pretty fail if there's not enough communication. Don't really rely on people to watch DBM timers so much, but have someone call out which action to take... spread out, ensure you're clumped, etc. I find the person not currently tanking LK is usually pretty good at doing this since they don't have to do much. Do know that Defiles and Val'kyrs will not come in the same order or time in-between. The second set is usually a Val'kyr and then a quick Defile right after it. Be ready to spread out and have anyone else get away from that affected person.

I recommend using speech bubbles since DBM says "Defile on me!" when the person gets it. It's pretty darned easy to see the bubble. Also, ensure that when someone gets picked up by a Val'kyr, that the Val'kyr will not take a path that is directly through a Defile. This can be easily done by making sure that the shortest path to an edge does not travel through a puddle. Try to keep the LK near the center since that provides the most distance, but the tank will sometimes get Defile cast on him, and LK will have to move elsewhere. Use stuns and slows on the Val'kyr and be aware that Warlocks can use their Demon Circle to teleport back up once they're dropped. The circle must be close to the side for this to work, so make sure it isn't too far in. Also, to ensure the Val'kyr picks them up near the circle, they should just simply stand on it (or close to it).

Phase 3 is a bit of a different ball game since Infest is gone but you get Harvest Soul and Vile Spirits. If you have a Paladin tank, simply have them use Righteous Defense on your healers when Vile Spirits are aggroing them. Making it so healers can spend more time healing and less time worrying about spirits is a good thing! Warrior tanks can also put Vigilance on the other tank and get infinite taunts as long as that tank is currently tanking LK (since Vigilance causes taunt's CD to reset with every hit). You can use this to taunt ghosts onto yourself.

Thanks for the advice Aikouka, we're actually doing most of that stuff already :). On our first attempt tonight, we got him down to 41%, but haven't gotten too close to that since. Just some simple mistakes here and there that we're adjusting for, but I think the group has a pretty good handle on it so far.

EDIT: Just got to Phase 3, but just barely saw it.

EDIT2: Finished for the night. We made it to phase 2.5 the last 2 or 3 pulls, so we're doing really well on the second phase already. Good times!

Nice! If you can get into P2.5 with reasonable consistency he's going down soon. P2 is really the bulk of the fight. You only need 1-2 attempts in P3 with most the raid up to learn that part, it's simple by comparison. IMO, just put all ranged on the vile spirits->LK(tanks really shouldn't have to taunt adds in 25 man), melee on the remaining P2.5 adds->LK. Assign a 1-2 healers to the harvest soul target, they need quick heals.

Good luck!

Noooooooo!!! My account was hacked!!!

Got a rather odd "phish" email overnight about my account being suspended for gold selling activities so thought I'd check into battlenet just to check things and after logging in it ask for my authenticator code...since I don't have one this seems to be a problem. Given how infrequently I've logged over the last couple of months I can only guess this was a brute force account attack of some nature, particularly since about a week ago I went and did the latest full registry and malware scans.

Oh well, have till cata release to care about everything in my account being given back so it should be ok.

These hacked accounts have to be generated from 3rd party sites e-mail lists. I have never received a single e-mail and I don't associate my bnet account with anything else WoW related.

Someone in my guild is getting hacked about 1/week (different people), this is about a 3-4 times increased rate from 6 months ago.

I'm betting one or more of the major sites (curse, wowhead, mmo-champion, etc.) has a security leak.

Yeah, we're doing pretty damn well for it to be our first two nights on LK. We're still making some stupid mistakes here and there, plus getting a bit unlucky at times, but we're still making it work and showing definite progress already. Our group tends to learn from their mistakes pretty easily and we're always tweaking minor things that ultimately helps. Everyone communicates well, so I don't really have much to complain about.

arenajunkies had or still has security issues as well
mmo champ got hacked a while ago and put up an image with a keylogger in it, they caught that pretty fast but im sure that got some people.

im also sure some of it is people with easy a fuck to guess/brute force passwords

last person in my guild who got hacked PW was his first name /facepalm

he now has an authenticator

It's none of my business, but I'm glad you didn't buy that LK kill a couple weeks ago. It'll be worth the wait to get it for the first time with your guild.

Yeah, it will definitely be more satisfying for myself. Only 1 of the 10 people in my guild has killed LK before, so it will be nice when all of us finally get it. I could definitely see my patience wearing thinner if I already had kingslayer and was merely "waiting" for my other guildies to get it so we could start on hardmodes.

If you already had kingslayer why couldn't you start on hard modes in addition to working towards a guild LK kill.

I get a lot of those junk account emails (in an increasingly larger volume since the bnet switchover) but for the most point just ignore them as they go to the address not connected with my current bnet account. Now that I think about it, I did get some rather odd occurrences while browsing the AT forums last night, a couple times I got the momentary little beep like when you get the browser warning bar that some program was blocked from opening click for details...except no bar was ever present. Occurred like 3 times if I remember. And while that is the PC I do most of my wow playing, I've actually logged in very few times of late and did just run a full sweep a couple days ago.

As for the current situation, I called 5 minutes after they opened, was told estimated wait was 23 minutes and then sat on hold for about 40 minutes. After about 30 seconds of getting my name and stuff verified, took my about 10 seconds to say think I was hacked and this is why. He looked at the account and about a minute later had the password reset, authenticator removed, and in game ticket set up for the restore process and said it would be about 24 hours till in game GMs had everything on that end restored.

All of which would have been great except I'm getting a user name error when using the password reset link thing so sent the guy an email and waiting on that response.

Hopefully it won't be tough to get "all" my stuff back as all 10 chars pretty much had full bags and full banks.
