Is it really that long?

yes and no, the RP may not be 10 min but from when you enter the instance to when you actually get to start attacking stuff is at least 10 min, plague barrels and all that junk, but its mostly the RP.

you can run Heroic AN in less time then it takes to start COS

and the reason the rank is in my macros is because it auto adds that when you click then out of the spellbook into the macro window

also i don't have anything against long dungeons, i WANT them to bring back things like BRD and UBRS. however i really dislike pointless long RP where you are just standing around

Yes. The talking is probably at least 7 minutes of standing around waiting for Arthas to shut up so you can start.

Yep...I always delete the (Rank X) part after I shift-click an ability into a macro. This shouldn't be an issue any more in Cataclysm with them removing ranks and just having abilities scale with level.

My PvP friends and I were bored on Sunday and decided to mess around with some PvE for once. We went into ToC10 (normal) for the first time and cleared it in a few hours. What kinds of things can we expect differently if we try heroic mode? Do bosses have more health/hit harder, or is it more complex than that?

Some bosses have different mechanics that'll wipe you if not handled right; others the abilities you could heal through/ignore will now insta gib you.

Forgot to mention this earlier and posting it, thank god for the OK changes. I can't say how many idiots fail there in only pulling one or not blundering into additional adds in the area after the second boss. To a certain degree it is a bit tricky with the number there and amount of walkers, but ugh some people just can't seem to learn.

As far as the devs agreeing with me about those crappy old instances 🙂 they would have been served much better if divided into segments like DM. BRD could have been split into three, And you could probably have 4 between the 2 brs's.

Even when you were able to do them in full 10 man groups fairly well decked out in pre-raid gear stuff (which at the time was only MC) it was tedious beyond a point of reason. But theb again, that was the design philosophy at launch when I expect they thought those instances would be going for many years (uld, strat, and the one in desolace I can't name at the moment are more prime examples).

When you could raid 5 mans it was pretty faceroll. Actually 5 manning strath or scholo when it came out was an immense unpuggable achievement that got reduced to just tedious after they nerfed them. Diremaul wasn't added to the game till the second or third content patch after all the other hard 5 mans were nerfed (maraudon was the first piece of content added after release).

I remember, on my first rogue, going through BRD to get the barman shanker. I had to run through it like 6 times for mine. Also helped a guild member get his.

So...you're against allowing the option to skip standing around and wasting time for ten minutes of dialogue we've heard millions of times before because that equates to "free emblems"? 😕

Is the option to skip the dialogue in TOC and HOR "free emblems" as well?

My original post before it was centered on dialog:

Did it bother me that the DTK end boss would hit everyone with that one thing 3 times a fight instead of just once? Does it matter if the chaos things keep opening up and it takes an extra 10 seconds to kill the boss? Does it matter if I have to wait 3 minutes at the beginning of CoS? No to all.

And my overall thought on the "issue":

I just find it weird that on one hand, people want to play this game like it's their life. But on the other hand, it's like they are arguing that they shouldn't have to play the game.

I thought you said you weren't coming back in this thread?

but that's kinda my point, back in the day when i was living on loki's backwardsassrealm no one really attempted those max level instances as 5 mans unless it was the one or two guilds that had started getting some MC gear on until they had a few hits of the nerf bat on them. Even DM which was released several patches into the game was looked down upon by many. I still remember when one guy got the barov trinket then started using it in duels by IF. oh my good the bitching he got from others for using an op cheat like that.

Hour long queues and instance lag make ICC impossible to actually raid >.>

thats cause your server sucks

we ran uld today and TOGC

made 75k more gold for the guild and finally got our first Sylvanas' Cunning, we have missed insanity twice since we first got it didn't think we would ever see it

We did alt raid and killed Putricide 25 lol. Threw a few mains in there and got me 2 marks yay, but ofcourse the trinket didnt drop.

We couldn't kill Saurfang again tonight. We just have some god awful DPS... melee that were doing between 4k-5k. I feel pretty pitiful only doing 7.5k myself... I know I can get that higher, but without figuring out a keybind for Fire Nova (I moved my Wind Shear temporarily). I just don't know what to do... even if people were slightly underperforming, they'd be doing a lot more than they are now and we could probably easily beat him.

Although, we were missing a DPS, because apparently one of our guys lost a pair of bracers on LDW, got mad about it, quit the guild and went offline. Given that one of our DPS had to go, we didn't have anyone else to put in (as we'd planned someone to fill that other spot). But on a good note, we did a lot better on LDW and one of the few changes... putting me on the boss 😛. Focus firing the adherents usually works out pretty well since a Reanimated Fanatic can be easily destroyed by casters, where the only melee that are purely physical are warriors and feral druids. Also, Adherents are the ones that apply Curse of Torpor, so the quicker they're down, the less of an issue that is.

But I guess we just gotta work on our DPS. We didn't have a hunter last night though, which probably would've helped.

Jeez 😱. You're in Blood Legion on Warsong, right?

You Warlocks are safe!

Using Nevermelting Ice to boost Corruption's crit %
I don't think either haste not crit qualify as an "exploit." That word implies you are somehow abusing mechanics so bad that you risk some kind of punitive reaction on our part. Usually if we don't like how a class is working we'll just fix the mechanics and not blame players for it.

In any case, haste provided a huge damage boost and was hard to fix. Crit provides a moderate damage boost and is hard to fix. So we probably won't be changing the way rolling crit works any time soon. You can use it without fear of ramifications from us. (Source)

So apparently some scrub who's guild master of the guild "Greedy Goblin" has put a hit out for my guild's officers because we trolled him. (this guy has been spamming trade, and posting on realm forums, about how he's offering a 15k gold bounty, split between the raiders, for 25m putricide, among other scrubby bits)

One officer made fun of his lack of progression.
Another officer made fun of him when he whispered them about the first officer.
I made fun of him for trying to only recruit people who are bad at math (join a guild for a 600g bounty? who would do such a thing?).

So now he's put a bounty on our heads. He started at 300g, then we trolled his bounty topic, and now it's 1000g. The best part? I don't think he understands that actual raiders (read: not him) have little to no reason to ever be gankable. I don't need to do dailies, I can play the AH to make gold, I don't need to quest for rep, I basically spend 100% of my time either inside instances/raids/BGs or in town. How is anyone supposed to gank a raider?

[EDIT] He dropped the bounty back down to 350g. I guess I need to troll him harder?

Professor Putricide Hotfixes

Quote from: Daelo (Source)Professor Putricide is getting two hotfixes deployed right now.

One of them fixes an issue where the Mutated Transformation and Mutated Plague ability were doing significantly less damage in 25 player mode than intended. Mutated Transformation was actually doing less damage in 25 player mode than in 10 player mode!

In a separate hotfix affecting both 10 and 25 player modes, Tear Gas should no longer cancel player abilities such as Devotion aura. Instead of being totally immune, players now take 99% less damage. This also means Heals over Time spells will continue to work while Tear Gased, Dispersion will grant mana, etc.

Balance druids in 3.3.2
Keep in mind that we tend to make much smaller adjustments during a minor patch cycle due to the limited amount of testing time we're allotted before applying such patches. For this reason you're not likely to see any major Balance druid changes coming in the next minor patch.

With that being said, one small change we have in the pipeline will double the passive effectiveness of Earth and Moon so that it provides a flat 2/4/6% spell damage increase, up from 1/2/3%. As an obligatory warning, this is subject to change prior to the next minor patch going live. (Source)

Elemental T10 4pc Bonus
We're not happy with Elemental 4PT10, even with the change Eyonix announced (not requiring Flame Shock for LvB to crit). I think we're likely to completely redo it. We'll try and post soon what we think that change will be so you can make gear choices accordingly. (Source)

[...] The Shaman Tier 10 bonus has been redesigned and will no longer reduce the cooldown of Lava Burst or enable Lava Burst to be guaranteed to critical strike without Flame Shock present. Instead successful Lava Burst casts now increase the duration of Flame Shock on the target by 6 seconds.

Please note this is still a work in progress and we may end up with a different or modified bonus before the patch goes live. (Source)

Warrior (Forums / Talent Calculator)
Prot Warrior DPS
We understand that warrior damage is on the low end but regarding the raid progression, it's a hard case to say that your wipe on Festergut (as an example) was caused by the difference between tank damage when the dps from focused classes like rogue, warlock, etc. can probably improve to beat the enrage timer. (Source)

[...] I honestly think it's hard to argue that your choice of tank often costs you a kill because of the dps of the tank. Often those numbers are rounding errors compared to the damage capable by the dps specs in the raid. However, I don't think you even need to invoke that argument. I think it just feels crappy when your dps is lower than other tanks.

I don't think the block diminishing returns exacerbates this much to be honest, but it was a problem that was already there. We'd like to buff Prot sustained dps in a way that isn't risky for PvP.

(Standard: "no promises" implied.)

I'll say again that we have nothing against threat modifiers. Some of you need to stop treating them as if they are cockroaches to be stomped out whenever they appear. Bonus threat is really the only way to keep tank damage lower than dps damage but threat higher than dps threat. It only becomes a concern when A) the threat modifiers are flat (because then when the dps do more damage with gear, you aren't doing more threat with gear) or B) you're spamming abilities that do lots of threat but no real damage, because that just feels lame (and really we're just talking Sunder Armor here, which nobody spams anymore anyways). I can play the AH to make gold
That reminds me, I've been meaning to ask you folks what you do to go about making gold on the AH. Obviously you need to buy low, sell high. I mean, how do you go about finding what's low? Do you use particular addons that scour the AH for discrepancies? Any tips would be appreciated.
