Ugh frost resist not necessary. Healers need to suck it up and tank needs to manage cooldowns during frozen blows. It's only for about 2 and a half minutes :p This is one of those fights where a holy paladin can do 6k+ effective hps until 3.2.

You can also get some dps if the tank takes care to back pedal him around and position him so melee can stay in the light pillars as much as possible.

Save hero for when you get RNG and all your melee have storm power and blow their pots at the same time.

RNG can affect that fight a lot when going for the rare cache. Who gets storm power and when, starlight being on one side of the room or evenly distributed, etc. I've even seen him start frozen blows before a flash freeze and you automatically lose half the raid when flash freeze occurs and all the healers start repositioning while frozen blows is still going on : /

Yeah, I know it's not necessary but you try telling my guild officers that. I disagreed with using Frost Resist on Sapphiron (another "lol moment") and now that we're at another Frost related boss, I get to put up with the same BS.

I had to argue with my guild over using wow-heroes.com gear scores as a way to group people that "need work" as one officer believes anyone below 2200 definitely needed to get their ass into Naxxramas. I amusingly pointed out the fact that a mere day before this Naxx run was scheduled, I was at 2130 and did my job properly and still placed 1-5 on any meter (depending on the fight). Hence I stated that "skill > gear". I was able to jump up to over 2300 because I had Tier 8 in the bank and won the T8.5 chestpiece, so I bought my helm and got 5/5.

But to give you an idea, we have people on Hodir that don't even pass 4k DPS... and I see Anubis talking about having 19k DPS (albeit he is a Warlock and Warlocks and Mages tend to do very well on Hodir)... it makes me /sigh.

We do that, but the only negative aspect is putting all the melee into one starlight means an icicle will most likely begin to fall there quite soon :p.

He's referring to the NPCs getting iceblocked, not raid members. You can't prevent them from getting iceblocked, although when they randomly bumble onto the snow it's a nice bonus.

It's also nice when the mages are right beside each other and not on completely opposite sides of the room. I really need to get Tuskarr's Vitality on my boots :(.

still looking for these answers:

1) is it worth it for a BGing Rogue to get res gear? Not arena, but someone who plays BGs all the time. Originally with WOTLK release, pve gear did much better damage and it wasn't worth the sacrifice, or time for that matter.

Currently do 2s arenas still get you personal ratings (for the purpose of getting some basic gear)?

2) what kind of damage do pallies do to you... spell or melee or both? Never played one so I'm trying to see what the best defense is.

For rogues in BG? Probably not so much. You've already got such high avoidance you don't really need the reduced crit damage that resil provides (if they never hit you you're not gonna eat crit hits).

Now may be a different story in 3.2 once it goes live - then resil basically reduces all damage by some factor - including spell damage which you aren't quite as good at avoiding.

And still looking for specific suggestions on how to setup a multibox. Better to run on separate computers? How do you control two toons at once?

Any input welcome.

I've got (3) wow-capable machines, so that's what I did. Two desktops and a laptop. The desktops are connected via Multiplicity; displays are next to each other, and mouse slides from one to the other (and carries keyboard focus with it).

When running just the RAF-connected pair for quest grinding, I'd use the two desktops; one toon would be purely in follow/support mode, only tossing out a cast or two per fight tops.

When grinding instances, I played my 80 on a desktop and the lowbies on the desktop/laptop. The laptop would simply /follow the desktop, and I'd manually steer the desktop alt. I tried /following the 80 with both alts, but would occasionally facepull aggro.

You can do both. I run two Wow's on my same computer to do some of the AT daily stuff. Just put the healer on follow and kills stuff.

I know most here are primarily focused around PvE, but I have a PvP alt that I have been actually getting somewhere with in Arena. Human DK at about 1800ish in 2's with a Holy Pally partner. The only two teams we have trouble with are Rogue/Mage and DK/Druid. For the rogue mage, I can now avoid getting sapped, but then I just get chain poly'ed and then blinded, and then sapped after the blind. My pally usually blessings me out of blind, but then a swift poly usually follows. The whole time my pally is getting owned and I have a hard time doing much. I can sometimes get off a chains and grip on the rogue, but he shadows and sprint back to the pally. Strangulate on mage...and well that just prolongs things.

The DK/Druid team is tough because without an MS effect, I can't burn through druids hots. So I do a lot of switching back and forth to cause the druid to go oom...but wait...they never go oom. So its a 20 minute fight and we usually end up losing unless I string some crits on the druid. I can sometimes catch bad droods by waiting until hots fall off and barkskin isn't up, then switch and strangulate and hopefully burst before silence is up.

Paladins are around half and half. Seals, Judgments, Consecration and Exorcism are all holy spell damage.

I run mine on the same PC with the same WoW install (probably not a good idea) and manually control everything. That's somewhat necessary when you aren't playing the same class so you can't simply mirror your one button commands over... you know, like how 4 shamans all shock at the same time, etc.

Since I already have two (very) WoW-capable systems that suggestion of Multiplicity sounds great, Rivan, thanks! With this you don't even have to have mouse/keyboard plugged into the second box, right? Just a monitor and on the same network and you're good to go.

I can see how that would make it easy mode for leveling - even if you quested the two toons instead of raping lowbie instances with an 80. Just make the second toon heals and mouse into that screen, click heal whenever the main/tank was hurting.

You just alt+tab between the two sessions or what? Seems like that would be slow during fights...

Nope, once the application's installed, you don't need a kb/mouse plugged in on the secondary machine.

On the note of control sharing apps, someone elsewhere on AT mentioned Input Director this morning and it looks to do the same thing. It's also free.

We finally killed hard mode Mimi last night after a 3 week hiatus due to both our pally healers quitting the game (one had ~15ish legendary fragments). We also started on 1-keeper yogg and got most attemps well into phase 3. Hopefully we'll have our drakes tonight and maybe some Algalon experience too.

You see the thing on MMOC about Blizzard supposedly nerfing hard mode Mimiron?

Yeah we put in about 2 hours on hard mode Mimiron (10 man) last night, only to have these nerfs go in now =/

I lost all interest in my alliance toons (all 10 of them). The warlock will never level up from 72 and my lowbie shaman, mage and warrior won't be doing the same crappy quests for the 10th time.
Might start a Horde DK on a different realm - mostly to get a decent amount of gold, then start a belf pally.

Anyone have trouble loading the mmoc home page today? When I went there this morning most of the graphics would load then I'd get an ie error box message about being unable to load the page. If I clicked on one of the subheaders like the forum button I could swap over before the error message struck though. Just the homepage that would fail to load.

My mobile could access it so wondering if it was some strange security thing blocking it.

They are testing their database and it's making it run VERY slow. In Firefox I get a popup saying the script is taking a long time, but if I tell it ok and just let it go it eventually loads.

I quit playing wow about the time burning crusades came out....

I really miss playing, but now, with work and etc.... I just want to play casually. I am thinking about picking up the two expansions, but rerolling as my guild has disbanded (it seems). My question is how long does it typically take now to level up? (Bear in mind I have no local friends that play - so powerleveling? might be out of the question). Perhaps I am asking too much....

Well when the patch comes out, you get the regular mount at 20, epic at 40, and flying (double speed of original) at 60. Quest xp has been drastically increased, most elite mobs demoted, everything pretty much noobified. You could level from 1-80 in a couple weeks with no help.

My pally is at about 13 days played, just did normal do all quest solo grind for the most part and he's just under 78.

If you go the powerleveling through RAF route, you can hit 60 with a day played from what I've seen.

If I upgrade my trial account via blizzard and pay the $19.99 fee, is that only for the original WoW?

Will I need to pay $XX.XX for TBC and WotLK expansions as well?

Don't do it - there's a deal over in Hot Deals to get WotLK for $19.99 and you can get the battlechest for $29.99 at any store.

Dang, WOTLK is sold out for $19.99.....would have been a great deal. oh well.

Yeah I guess I'll look for a battlechest deal.

So back to my original question, if I were to go blizzard upgrade route, I would have to pay fees for both expansions right?
