Ben, I was looking at your Elementalist FFB spec and I was wondering if you'd prefer having 2/3 Playing with Fire + 2/3 Pyromaniac rather than 3/3 Playing with Fire and 1/3 Pyromaniac?

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent...cMM0GhVbbZhIccssu0c0xb

It's really giving up +1% spell damage for +1% crit and -1% mana but you don't have the negative aspect of +1% spell damage received.

I used to go that way, I'll actually probably end up removing all points in Pyromaniac soon as when FoF procs I am already over 100% chance to crit, only reason I haven't so far is there really isn't anywhere else to put that single point that will give me more dps with that build. As far as the additional magic damage taken, any fight it is a concern on I can always use mage armor, for fights where the dmg is a major concern like Saph I have my full epic FR set already.

Don't get me wrong, until you get your crit chance to 100% when FoF procs I think Pyromaniac is a good way to go, you just start seeing a HEAVY drop in the benefit of crit rating when you exceed that number in terms of crit versus dps for that build(would be very different if I were going with a hot streak ffb build though). You know, I may even go ahead and drop the third point in impact. No dps benefit, but on certain fights it can come in handy(Gluth and Satharion). I know, I'll still have the extra 1% spell dmg taken, but in all honesty the healers don't even notice the difference between 3000 and 3030(I know, I have a tree ;) ).

Ahh that's understandable. What's making me a little more interested in that build is more use on trash mobs. If I cast Blizzard on a group of mobs, will it apply Winter's Chill to every mob hit by Blizzard? I mean, based on the talent description I'd say so, but I'd rather ask. That could be a pretty good AoE tool that would also boost the damage of Lazer Turkeys casting Hurricane and Warlock's Seed Spammage as it isn't very practical to cast scorch on every mob even if you have Glyph of Improved Scorch.

Well the thing is we have to wait for 3.0.8, and there is probably going to be atleast 2 weeks of testing in ulduar on the ptr if they do do public testing (or they will do closed testing), and that will be after they fix all the bs bugs in 3.0.8. Plus the large amount of class changes so that means idk well see how much complaining and retesting they do. Probably dont see 3.1 until march now that I think about it.

ah this is getting stupid. While waiting for my 90 minute queue last night I fell asleep and woke back up after I had been booted out. Log back in and it's up to a 1200 count queue.

Get around to logging in today a little after 7 and it's a nice 90 minute 4 digit queue already looking at me. thought things would get better when the brats went back to school.

Try PVP'ng in Wintergrasp :)

Ooo hit 75 on my mage so now I'm transferring him to the PTR ( my personal spec testing tool :D ) to try out those FFB specs.

Is it really that much better? I hate that stupid zone right now because I like getting on my flying mount and aiming directly at where I want to go and just walking away. But I can't do so with Borean Tundra or Sholazar without hitting Wintergrasp >_<.

That's why I always log in before about 6pm on Alleria. I never get stuck in queues because of that .

But Alleria did crash earlier today. Amusingly enough, when it crashed, I was in the exact same spot on my Shaman+Mage that I was in when it crashed once on my Death Knight+Druid combo (a little bit north-east of Wyrmrest killing snobolds). But luckily this time, I wasn't in the middle of fighting 5 like I was on my DK and when I got back on my DK, I had 5 attacking me lol).

to any lock having issues or simply hating aff

spec this 0/33/38
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IZcxczsgMV0cZVcrVr0ui0I

i know soccerman specs it because hes lazy, also some crap about super DPS not being needed. Anyway itll do over 5k in a raid fully buffed (read patchwerk) and is dead nuts simple. Immo + 2 dots + incin spam with the imp out, has great burst, does good on trash and great in heroics
ir prob run Imp, Immo and CoA glyphs

if you need hit move a point from Intensity to Cataclysm

Hmm it doesn't seem like Fingers of Frost works on the Target Dummies.

EDIT:

Actually, I just tried it on my Druid in a duel and FoF won't proc on him either... hell, Frostbite won't even proc and I threw about 40 Frostfire Bolts (and many more before that).

EDIT 2:

Yep, fought quite a few mobs and it definitely doesn't seem to proc Frostbite or Fingers of Frost. I tried Frostbolt and it did proc Frostbite/FoF albeit not that often.

Yeah I quite often hit 5k on bosses with that spec, even hit overall dps of 11k dps on our last 5 min maly kill. I prefer Felguard 0/41/30, the dps is more or less equal to 0/33/38 but the Felguard is more fun and it actually survives some fights.

Why not just move a point from Nether Protection into Cataclysm... or do you prefer having Nether Protection for fights like Sapphiron (as I assume it procs off his Frost Aura and would significantly reduce the damage you take)?

EDIT:

Oh and I tried the build out on my 71 lock... it's actually kind of nice. I didn't have any glyphs for it and mobs hitting me kind of impedes my damage, but even with my poor gear, I still did around 700 DPS. That's pretty close to affliction against a single target, but it's rather easy to do :p.

Here are my 2 specs:
0/33/38
0/41/30

I switch between them depending on my mood and whatnot. Now for 0/33/38 I generally go after NP because you never know when you can use a large magic damage redux (its useful on like 9/10 fights). Depending on how much hit you have, Cataclysm can be lowered and put points into something else. Honestly I don't run into the cast interruption problem people hate, so I only put 1 point into Intensity because you rarely get hit and chances are you'll be interrupted by it either way. It really does vary on the fight, but I will probably go 0/33/38 and 55/0/16 when duel spec comes out.

But for lvling go like 55/0/x where x is how many points you have at each level. Its the best and easiest way to lvl because you never stop for mana or anything, just siphon life corr and coa and just run in circles dotting everything you need. VWer can be there to tank a mob or two but that is it.

lol edit: when I need 6kdps (like our first 3 drake kill) Ill switch to aff, but until then f the freakin spec. Then again, they are buffing Demo so with any luck mid tier abilities will see a nice dps boost and my hybrid specs will become more appetizing. Please god make them just have Immolate's damage to like double from Fire and Brimstone because a 5 point talent that increases total dps by 1.5% is trash.

yea ill prob do 0/33/38 and 54/0/17 when dual comes out as well. personal pref but i just disslike the felguard

and i agree for lvling, personally id go 51/11/x
Hanut + Siphon+soullink is actually OP when lvling but this depends on playstyle, for me running and chaindotting entire zones worked and i was pretty good at it

Ahhh, there is nothing like running through the middle of a group of mobs and dotting everything you see. I just wish the game would autoloot everything the second you killed the mob, having to go back and loot sucks ass.

Our GM spoke with a Blizz Rep on the phone yesterday. She confirmed that Skullcrusher is one of the top 4 laggiest/performance hindered Realms in the game. And even better, there isn't really anything they can do about it.

She did pretty much confirm that Free Xfers will be happen soon for SC.. and it looks like we may be taking that boat when it comes. Shitty server+Horde dominated+crappy Alliance = no fun.

We couldn't even raid most of last night. We got 3/4 of the construct quarter down, and by the end of Gluth we were lagging. Thaddius obliterated us.

I'd say you are correct.

My additional 2 cents. The release of 3.1 being in the beginning of March vs the very end will almost 100% revolve around how much unexpected additional development time in necessary as a result of any problems from 3.0.8 after its release.

Joined a PUG last night on Naxx, we beat the entire spider wing with no deaths, then wiped once on Patchwerk and they called it. :(

I'm so tempted to join a raiding guild right now.

Ohh I'm liking some of the newer 3.0.8 changes... mostly the following:

Horn of Winter now has no cost and grants 10 runic power in addition to its stat buff, but has a 20 second cooldown. (Old notes had 30 Seconds)

The Cooldown on Transmute: Titanium has been reduced to 1 day, and the materials required have been simplified.
Reduced the cooldown on Northrend Alchemy Research from 7 days to 3 days.
The chance to discover a Northrend transmutation has been increased.
Changed the Crazy Alchemist Potion so it always gives health and mana. It also grants the benefit of another random potion effect.

Jessica Sellers, a new vendor in the Dalaran inscription shop, will sell most inscription inks for the cost of one Ink of the Sea. She also sells Snowfall Ink for multiple Inks of the Sea.

Mining veins and deposits no longer require multiple hits to receive all the ore. Players will receive around the same amount of ore, stone, and gems they would have received from multiple hits.

Reduced the cloth required to make a Bolt of Imbued Frostweave.
Ebonweave now requires the tailor to be in the Maw of Neltharion in Dragonblight to create it.
Spellweave now requires the tailor to be at the Azure Dragonshrine in Dragonblight to create it.

Opening: Opening doors and objects should no longer cause shapeshifted forms to be cancelled.

I was definitely not looking forward to making Ebonweave on my tailor since right now it forces you to go to Icecrown Citadel! The part that's a bit unfair about it is you notice one type of cloth is missing from the list... that's because Moonshroud only requires you to go to the Emerald Dragonshrine in Dragonblight right now :p.

I'm also glad to see some of the Alchemy annoyances removed... getting a new recipe every week is a bit excessive. I'm also glad to see that they're making Ink of the Sea more useful.... Whenever I do Inscription discovery on my Druid, I have to go farm plants until I get 2 Icy Pigments to make the Snowfall Ink that is required for the discovery (it takes 5 resilient parchment, 3 Ink of the Sea and 1 Snowfall Ink). Looking at wowhead, it seems the price is 10 Ink of the Sea per Snowfall, which means I won't be using it as that's too expensive (unless I'm lazy). I usually keep my Druid at Borean Tundra for a quick flight over to Sholazar to farm herbs anyway.

Some people aren't sure if that vendor is only there for inscription PTR purposes... but if she was there for that, chances are they'd just make her a glyph vendor. So I'd put my chips in on her staying. None of those are really big for me though as I have 3 herbalists and inks of every single type . Although it would help that I wouldn't be wasting inks to make stuff for other people!
