Count me with the subs that have fleed. Mine's been inactive since early-mid June after using tokens for the 2 months prior and I just uninstalled last week. Realized I'd just been logging in for garrisons and that's about it. Looking at it now, I'm kinda surprised I played as long as I did ... the last 2-3 expansions have just been autopilot for me. No PVP beyond an occasional BG and no raiding beyond some LFR runs. What the heck was I doing?

Anyway, got myself a playstation 4 and 8-10 games, been 100% sucked into Bloodborne to the point where that's the only one I've been playing. Hadn't played many console games aside from Halo, Gears of War, and early versions of Guitar Hero since starting WoW in 2005. It's amazing how far they've come =) From my couch, the graphics look just as good as my PC does 16-20" from the monitor. And my couch is a whole lot more comfortable.

Also, the WoW movie is about 5 years too late. I have no interest in seeing it anymore.

Yeah the movie is way too late. It seems like I've been hearing about it since the beginning of TBC. A pity Sam Rami didn't do it.

I dropped at the beginning of March and came back two weeks ago.

I'm appreciating the new content and the free 695 gear 🙂

I'm appreciating WoW token. Now that my Garrison has the lucrative level 3 Inn missions and I have about 8 treasure hunter followers I'm basically looking at free to play WoW. I can't even imagine the easy haul people were raking in with piles of alts all running these missions. 😱

I spent 170-180k on 6 tokens the day they were released, brought me down to ~500k total across characters. In two months of garrison missions once per day (no prof CDs, no mines, no work orders, etc) on five characters with treasure hunters, I had just crossed 1.1m when I went on vacation (during which my account lapsed) 6 weeks later. And my raid missions were only the normal difficulty ones that didn't award gold.

They announced the next expansion at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. It's called World of WarCraft: Legion. The game includes the following features:

  • New Class: Demonhunter (Some possible story spoilers.)
The "leader" of this class is Illidan. As Demon Hunters, you "experience" the history of them, which starts with Illidan sending you to Ardun, the Burning Legion homeworld, before the adventurers came to The Black Temple.
  • New dungeons and raids.
  • Class Order Hall - These are to develop a heavy sense of "class identity", which you will become the "leader" of the class order. The idea is that these class orders will become the force to fight against the Burning Legion since the Horde and Alliance don't get along. More below.
  • Artifact Weapons - These are ultimate weapons that are class and spec dependent. More information below.
  • New Honor System
  • Takes place on The Broken Isles
  • Level up to 110
  • Dalaran is the main hub.
  • Alleria and Turalyon will be appearing. No information about where or when.
Artifact Weapons

  • Retribution Paladins will be seeking the shards of Frostmourne.
  • Protection Warriors will be seeking out a shield and sword from a legendary Vrykul king.
  • Frost Death Knights will also seek the shards of Frostmourne, but will reforge them into dual Rune Blades (Icebringer & Soulreaper).
  • You get Artifact Power as you "adventure", which allows you to configure/customize your weapon.
  • They showed off a UI for configuration that looks kind of like a Final Fantasy X sphere grid, but not a sphere.
  • They gave an example for Frost Death Knights where you can modify your Raise Ally to give them full health/mana and even raise yourself.
  • Visual customizations are unlocked through certain achievements.
  • Mistweaver Monks unlock the staff of Shao-hao called Sheulun, Staff of the Mists.
  • Enhancement Shamans get Doomhammer, which creates an energy version so you can dual-wield.
  • Feral and Guardian Druids will customize the look of their form.
Class Orders

  • The Order Halls will be instanced, but unlike Garrisons, they will be available to anyone of your class.
  • Paladins will create their Order Hall in a hidden Templar sanctum beneath Light's Hope Chapel.
  • Shamans will create theirs in a cave near the Maelstrom.
  • Warlocks will create one on a demon world.
  • Instead of Followers from the Garrisons, you get Champions in your Class Order. The Champions will not do things for you, but they will open up aspects of the game for you. For example, they can scout out a new dungeon, or you can send them to a zone to provide a buff to you while you're in it.
Dungeons

  • Eye of Azshara
  • Darkheart Thicket - You'll rescue Malfurion.
  • Neltharion's Lair
  • Helheim - Location where cursed Vrykul go instead of Valhalla. This will be similar to Grim Depot but you're on a Boat of the Damned. I'm on a boat!
  • Suramar City
  • Violet Hold - This doesn't appear to be a rehash of the Wrath of the Lich King dungeon of the same name. It will apparently be very lore heavy.
Raids

  • Emerald Nightmare - 7 bosses. Emerald Dream. Pursue Cenarius and fight Xavius, the satyr god.
  • Suramar Palace - 10 bosses. Home to the Nightwell, center of Suramar's power. Face off against (Possible WoD spoiler)
    Gul'dan
    .
Demon Hunter

  • Two specs: Havoc (DPS) and Vengeance (Tank). They didn't want to create two DPS specs like some other classes.
  • The specs were shown with a different looks.
  • Demonic Fury is the resource.
  • Spectral Sight - Allows you to see enemies through physical barriers, as well as those stealthed and invisible. (2 minute cooldown)
  • Demon Hunters have a double jump ability. This was specifically mentioned as an ability to allow you to get over obstacles that no other class can... does this mean no flying?
Honor System

  • They didn't like that people were forced to invest way too much time into the original Honor System.
  • They thought the new system was a bit too limiting.
  • Gear has too much to do with PVP. The difference between the earlier PVP gear and the higher end stuff was just too much (620 vs 700 ilevel in WoD)
  • They're releasing what they're calling Honor System v3.
  • This has a new Honor Rank system from 1 to 50.
  • You get "talents" as you rank up where all are unlocked at rank 50.
  • (This is kind of like a Call of Duty perk system?)
  • An example upgrade - Abolish Magic - Dispels all magic every 2 seconds for 6 seconds (20 second cooldown - replaces dispel magic.)
  • Blood and Soil - Bloodlust now has a 45 second cooldown, but only affects you and your friendly target when cast.
  • Mind Quickness - Spell haste increased by 15%.
  • Necrotic Strike - A vicious strike that deals 100% wepaon damage and absorbs the next 5000 healing received by the target. Lasts 10 seconds.
  • Gain Prestige Ranks. You can "reset" your rank, and do it again, but this only gains you cosmetic upgrades.
  • For each time you "prestige" (reset back to rank 1), you gain a fancier portrait badge.
  • One cosmetic upgrade is a unique PVP artifact upgrade variant. Another is a Dark Warhorse.
Beta will be available later this year.

New Honor System

Post-Trailer Discussion
The full CGI cinematic is coming in the future
The Broken Isles was a vast Night Elf civilization, we now have the bones of that civilization. The entire continent is a graveyard of sorts. It has the tomb of Sargeras, a gateway to endless Legion worlds.
A giant demonic invasion is currently underway. The biggest one ever!
We are taking the fight to Gul'dan, fighting at the tomb of Sargeras, then the story begins. This will take place before the expansion launches. It is like the story leading up to Warlords with the Dark Portal, but better.
Everyone who has played WoW is going to be shocked.
Ashbringer and Doomhammer weapons are coming as Artifact weapons, as well others.
We are here to restore peace to the world by forming or renewing class orders, like the Silver Hand.
We are going to need all of the help we can get to fight the Burning Legion, so Demon Hunters are key.
The last time we faced Demon Hunters, most of them wanted to kill us. We will see through Illidan's eyes the story of the Illidari.
We will see the prison world of Shardoom, where all of the demons were held. Then we go to the Vault of the Wardens.
We find the Pillars of Creation.
Dalaran, Kirin Tor, Khadgar are all coming to the Broken Isles.
Dalaran will be the main hub of the expansion..
We go to Val'Sharah, a forgotten Druid refuge. The place Malfurion became the first Druid. We face Xavius, who is trying to unleash the Emerald Nightmare into our world. We enter Black Rook Hold.
We are going into the Emerald Nightmare, will get glimpses into the Emerald Dream.
Stormheim has the Vrykul that left Northrend thousands of years ago. We learn about the Val'kyr.
Azsuna

Another rumor I've heard recently regarding the quicker expabsion pace (finally after promising it for many years) is that they saw the subscriber number drop coming fast and furious before they had to release them so they have been pushing to get us out of WoD.

Same as when they revealed WoD at blizzcon, they had a video but it was mostly concept like art turned into an animation, not the traditional developed trailer.

Is there some significance to the "Hero" part of "Hero" Class? Is it supposed to be like Death Knight where you start at a higher level, or is "Hero Class" just a generic term for all classes in WoW?

I talk about it a little bit in my spoiler part above. I assume that you will start at a higher level -- probably at least 70
because the story in question starts during The Burning Crusade
.

They previously said they were abandoning the hero class idea cause after wrath all it turned into was getting to start a partially leveled character. I'm sure they will get a lot of questions at blizzcon about this but I'd say it's not going to mean much other than probably some type of interesting SP instanced experience when you first start one.

They just stated that it start at a very high level so you could access Legion content without having to go through old stuff.

Yeah but things have probably changed because now they've been letting people power level through the early game anyways.

Well the obvious question - gated flying crap all over again?

I see 0 chance of flying day 1, and while leveling I really do like staying on the ground. It's almost required, otherwise "get X, Y, Z" missions turn into fly-drop in-kill 1-2 mobs-loot quest item.

That means they have to force you to kill things for the quest "kill X of Y" or "loot X off of Y" quests. Every thing would have a kill counter of sorts.

Doesn't matter, they don't want to give any one class (aka hero) more power than others cause they don't want a majority of the player base suddenly to all be playing a DH. I highly doubt that position will change so hero mostly means starts with boosted level.
