They were kind of a pain when you were an Alliance rogue in Vanilla, no cloak of shadows or anything. In hindsight I should have made an undead rogue for that WoTF. Actually, in true hindsight, I should have passed on the pure dps classes entirely and rolled a Warrior. :'(

Back in vanilla people called warrior a pure class, because it didn't have a heal. This is how they justified it's damage.

I wish I was joking.

I did both, and made a rogue and a warrior in vanilla.

I still play both today. Warrior has its ups and downs, I really liked it in MoP, but not as much in WoD.

What's really gone into the stratosphere is Marksman hunters (RIP Surv 🙁 )... my MM hunter does nuts dps for being 705ish ilevel and no N/H raid gear (has ring and Kazzak 705s and crafted gun at 6/6 and two other crafteds at 715).

Back in Vanilla, I leveled a Rogue, Priest, Warrior and Mage to level 60 in that order. Honestly, Warrior was probably the worst time that I ever had leveling. The problem was that you didn't really have an escape mechanic... unless you count Intimidating Shout, which usually just sent the other mobs running into others. One way that you can try to avoid that would be pulling mobs, but you couldn't use Charge once you entered combat. So, you'd usually start with little rage. :|

It brings back some nightmares just thinking about it! I still remembered being swarmed in Tanaris when over by the cove in the north-east.

And other than the one I took to 70, they're all sitting that way on a server far far away.

leveling a warrior in vanilla

pull/kill 1 mob - sit and eat
pull 2 mobs - run back to your corpse -

Leveling ret in vanilla
Pull/kill 1 mob - hit seal/judge macro, pray for SoC proc. Wait 6 seconds, repeat. Heal.
Pull 2 mobs - maybe live because you can bubble-heal.
Go twice as slow as warriors anyways.

😛

Don't forget that mobs were packed tightly. I remember back in the day trying to get across Desolace and just running into mob after mob after mob. They were packed tightly and their paths made it so you couldn't get between them. Nowadays, everything is spread apart, a level 1 could dance their way through most zones without aggroing anything if they really wanted to. Now you can safely fight one thing at a time if you really want, back then you were guaranteed to pull more if you weren't careful.

One thing I always liked about WoW, even in vanilla, was that the roads were usually fairly clear. In a game like SWTOR it takes forever getting anywhere because you basically have to dismount like crazy to fight mobs every few moments on the main roads, as there is usually no way around.

I leveled my vanilla warrior towards the later half of the vanilla years and it wasn't painful at that point anymore. I do remember the horror stories of the people who started off as one though.

7 level 100 toons per week for 3 years in ICC 25 man H trying to get that damned mount...

STILL don't have it.

Run Ulduar once on my monk for transmog gear, Mim's Head drops.

Damn you, RNG god.

Well me and my daughter canceled last week. We went to play one day and we both just looked at each other and said we were bored. Maybe take a break for a few months and see if the urge to play bites me at some point.

There are too many other games to catch up on right now.

I have a 100 priest and it was really fun...but it's too much time investment to play right now. I enjoyed raiding, but meh. My guild disbanded and I didn't want to put time to finding another one. Garrisons just weren't that fun.

Though now that there's flying in Draenor, maybe I could go back. Hrm.

Been trying to get someone to help me with my Blood Infusion forever so make the Invincible grind less horrible but yet again Shadowmourne eludes me. 🙁

I just did that part with my brother last week. We managed to do it with just the two of us and some character swapping.

Basically went like this:
Me - 100 Pally
Him - 100 War, 90 Rogue, 87 Pally

He got all of his characters in the instance after we had cleared to Blood Queen. Then he started moving them to her room and kept rotating between them every minute or so by force closing the game. That way it treated them like a disconnect and not a logout to keep them active. Once they were all in the room we waited until two of them "faded" out and then I'd start the encounter. We tried it War first but he had too much hp and didn't die before the next bite was up. After a few more failed attempts we ended up finishing with Pally>Rogue>Warrior. The rogue kept getting smoked right before the 2nd bite because it lines up with Queen's air phase. Finally managed to keep the rogue up with sacred shield and bit her about 0.1 secs before she got nuked by Bloodbolt whirl. Last bite victim does not have to die, only the frist two so you don't get MC'd. You can also use fewer characters if one can self-rez(soulstone, ahnk, etc.)

Managed to get 8 shards this week but no mount. Only running it on the 100 pally though.
