Well depends, I don't like "grinding" as I get bored so quickly it's not funny.
Yesterday I queued for 4-5 dungeons with 3 other guildies and I got 300 or so JP which is good. I also got 600g in about 3 hours of gameplay.

I'm now sitting at 1800g and 1300 JP...better than sunday :p

I only have 650 Honor...I could convert some for an easy 250 JP, i'd be near a second piece.

But a question arise yesterday: Is it really a good way to spend my JP? Should I instead get better PvP gear for my 89.333 Lock?

in my opinion yes

once you hit 90 you go out to the timeless isle and get free 496 gear by running around. At that point JP is pretty much only for heirlooms, then upgrading said heirlooms

It'll be worth it if you plan on using that leveling character as your main.

the lock can hit battlegrounds for honor/conquest points when he hits 90 as the honor/conquest points gained per bg win is quite a lot more than pre 90 bg gains. Plus your lock can do the pvp dailies on Isle of thunder at 90 as well so he'll have plenty of ways to recuperate those points himself. it's about 525 honor and 50 conquest points after you finish all of the Isle of thunder pvp dailies. also your first random bg win of the day will rake in another 400 to 500 honors points and 150 conquest points.

fuck pvp, it's a terrible way to gear up now

go to TI and fiddle around. at least that way you won't want to blow your brains out doing BG's

@Rhezuss I'm in the same boat. I'm in need of three more heirlooms for my next alt.

I really haven't done anything in regards to PVE since Ulduar. I have a few 90's, but those were done by questing and PVP alone. It doesn't look like I can queue up for randoms on those toons so I don't think I can even earn JP queuing for specific dungeons. Are the argent dailies still available? Maybe it would be easier for me to buy them with champion seals? Any thoughts on this?
Take your 90s to the Timeless Isle and loot all of the chests there. You may have to die a few times, but you'll come out of it with easily a high enough item level for heroics.

you go go to the timeless isle and get a full set of 496 gear in under 2 hours, its that easy. when i get home ill link the chest map, use tomtom and BAM you have decent gear (minus a weapon) and you can then queue for the earlier LFR raids and go nuts if you want.

I did it last week, i think i was ~ilvl 350 when i fired this back up, 6 days later im ~510,

you can cap Valor points just from dailys and a cpl random 5 mans / senarios in under a week, JP takes longer but honestly once you finish the TI there is very little to spend JP on.

also if you are in a guild that is ranked up and you have the rep with them you can simply purchase all the heirloom gear you want (however its somewhat costly)

actually if you havent played in a long time there a ton of straight quests that give you boatloads of valor

I may have to suck it up and head to the Isle. Dumb question though: Can I convert Valor to Justice? I'm just asking cause I'm assuming LFR awards Valor? If not I guess I'd still be able to do heroics.

I have all the heirlooms I need except for three. I could definitely make do with what I have, but I'm just OCD like that :( What makes it worse is that I had a couple of these pieces already and lost them after a long break (GM was only able to recover one item).

Man, you guys got lucky if TI gave you a set in your armor type after a couple of hours. I ended up with about 8 cloaks, and a bunch of leather, plate and cloth for my shaman. Took me weeks to get a mail set together. :(

Of course if you have JP, you can also buy some decent (ilvl 480ish) gear from the Klaxxi vendor in Dread Wastes.

i think i got everything besides a ring from the isle TBH, 1 trinket and a neck + all other parts i also have a good amnt of mail and plate that is sitting on an alt from it as well, however even if you dont get everything it should get you high enough to do LFR for the earlier raids (if thats what you want)

Ok, yesterday I dinged 90...at f'ing last. It's my first toon to hit 90...and probably the last. Anyways I wanted to start Heroics ASAP but guess what? My ilevel is too low. So yeaterday I did some runs on SNT and GSS (highest level non-Heroic dungeons) to get some of the ilvl 450 items in there. Didn't got anything useful but will still run them until I get what I need. I also queued for some scenarios, which are cool for JP and other stuff but not directly rewarding gear.

I'm sitting at 429 and need 435. I bought some items off the AH yesterday to get to 429. Now I need more stuff to get past 435 and start grinding Heroics.

I'm low on currency which is a PITA right now: 2.2k gold, 1.5k JP and 1.3k Honor. I think I will exchange all my JP to Honor, at 250JP for 500 Honor I think it could be worthwhile? It would give me about 3k Honor in no time. I could start buying some epic PvP gear and use it in PvE too...which seems to be the way to go when you get to 90.

Is that a good plan? Should I do that? And the vendors are at Kun-Lai Summit right?
Or where should I look to up my ilevel to 435+?

Rhezuss,

dont buy anything

just go to the timeless isle, there is a quest giver in the shirne where the loremasters are (arch daily dude) who will fly you out there so you get the FP

after that look at the mmo champ link i posted. run around collecting chests for a few hours and you will get some number of items for you class for free and its all Ilvl 496

queue for celestials using the old raid finder (hit O) go to "other raids" itll do a cross server raid for it and its free tier 16 PVE or current arena PVP gear which is like 530 or so ilvl

after you clear out the timeless isle you should have a good number of items, after that spend your JP/VP on the missing slots to replace the lowest lvl items, the Valor and Justice venders on the far west side of the map (im horrid with names) black ox temple place sells everything. all Valor and JP Gear had its faction reputation requirements removed in 5.4 so you dont need to grind rep for any gear just mounts and other items

you can basically 100% skip heroics

Huh, couple of weeklys there I didn't know about. Thanks Anubis!

yea they only ever give me coins, however not really a huge deal as ive nearly replaced everything i got from the chests allready. however ive nearly got full sets for alts if i ever lvl them. the elites seem to love to drop items for me when doing that daily

Wow thanks Anubis, you've been giving great advices and i'm grateful.
Tonight i'll try to go the TI and get those chests. Should I go the the Shrine of two moons first to get the quest?

You should note that i'm the kind of player that likes to experience a lot of things so I like to do stuff that don't really help me right away. Like completing every quests in all the Pandaria zones, doing Heroics, etc.

But TI seems like the place to go at the moment and i'll make sure to visit it tonight.

Thanks a lot!

yes you have to get the quest to get out there because i dont beleive you can fly straight there because of the fatigue. however i could be wrong. the quest really just gets you the FP and maybe some gold

the thing about the gear from chests, they drop tokens, and when you "open" the token it creates a piece of gear based on your spec. for pure DPS classes this really isnt an issue but if you are say a war and open something and are speced for prot you get tank gear. so just make sure you are the correct spec when you do that. You can get duplicate tokens as well. also you will get stuff you cant use because its mail or plate or whatever, the stuff is accnt bound so you can mail it to an alt and have them open it assuming they are lvl 90

all of this i beleive is in that guide. and also I am a completionist as well, doing the TI stuff wont stop you from doing anything else. it just makes it a lot easier

wowhead also has a guide for TI and verything else no. just google it as i cant link it at work if you are having trouble finding out how to get out there

you cant fly on the timeless isle. but you need to get flying anyway

Yeah I heard you have to get to the Cromnie guy (spelling?) as part of the TI quest in Two Moons. And overall it's a must-have in Pandaria anyways.

BTW is there a reason to go back to the "old" zones anymore? Like Wrath?
Is it worth the time to just go there and complete every quests?

Only reason to do that is for achievements. Finish panda land first

Oh that I will and I find the quests really fun. At first I quit at level 87 since I was not having fun at all seeing the amount of XP needed to level...it was so slow.

Then I logged back in last week and decided to get to 90 as a priority. I found myself enjoying the "storyline" and quests I was doing. Plus the dungeons were kind of fun even after 5-6 runs.

I'm really looking forward to go to TI.

But reading on it...everything look really easy. Is there some kind of challenge? Is it soloable?
Do you simply roam about and discover chest and basically get free loot?

The island is soloable for sure (minus bosses of course), but there are a ton of elite mobs out there. You need to know how to handle each as they all pretty much have an ability that will kill you/take 90% of your life in one hit. Nothing hard mind you, but if you don't know how to handle them it'll kill you.

there are many major 'boss' type npcs that are not soloable, but there are always groups killing them. you dont even have to group up, just tag the npc a time or two, and you can get loot from them. super easy.

as for the chests, some of them are made a little bit difficult to get to in the sense that you have to do jumping puzzles, but most you can get to fairly easily. i think i spent less than a total of 6-7 hours on TI over the course of a week, and my main (that i never run anything with anymore) has an average ilevel of 504, as well as getting at least 3 of my alts a 496 level helm, shoulders, neck, cloak and chest. i think a few of them got feet and rings as well.

it should be called timeless loot piñata island

I still level my chars up through all zones of the expansion even thought I general outlevel them. Gets me the achievements and is a fairly easy way to rake up some gold, particularly since you are just about unkillable for the quest if you have some of the green items equipped for the next expansion as you're stats will be inflated.
